Hi All,

Not sure the online grocery shopping is a good idea now, although we will probably keep on doing it but we'll think about it first. This week we did our shop for groceries on Tesco online. We did a shop one night around 9pm, then had the delivery the very NEXT day. One item purchased was Pringles at 99p, but when they were delivered the NEXT day, the price had gone up to £2.00. Once the delivery had been made and we checked through our shopping list later, we noticed the price change. We enquired by telephone and were told that in the terms and conditions it does say prices can change from those quoted at the purchase time, and also that we should check the delivery list and prices when the delivery is made.
Our delivery driver certainly didn't hang about for the list to be scrutinised and of course never has done so. They are busy folk!!
So in theory a £50 shop could result in a £100 bill... personally I think it is ridiculous.
Anyone have any similar experience or comments...?

This happens all the time with tescos, i wish trading standards would clamp doen on them. THough they do say you will be charged the price on the day

Tescos have recently offered 500 points on a can of deoderant which was a mistake and people who bought it only got at best 50 points if at all. yet this mistake was displayed on the web site for 4 days.

Best thing you can do is take your money else where

I understand that prices change. The point is the purchase is made when you are online doing the shop, and indeed you are guided by the prices at that time. If you are shopping to a budget then it goes out the window. Due to our lifestyle our shopping is usually around 9pm the night before the delivery, so there is a very tight margin of time between the purchase and price change.
If the price had indeed decreased since the time of purchase I would not expect to have received the items at the reduced price. We are in the position that we can, and will, return the products in question, not just the Pringles I mentioned, there were other products.
I would have thought that the prices charged would be the prices you view online when you are making your purchase and not, as it would seem, when the person is collecting/packing your items the next day. Surely the purchase procedure is time stamped and the prices you are shown are recorded by Tesco..... only to have them charge you the shelf price when their staff are collecting your items...?
The price change was not minor, the price had gone from 99p to £2.... now if you had bought a telly from them, would that be acceptable? A >100% increase in price.....
As I said before, potentially everything in your shopping basket could increase in price and send your grocery bills skyward.
We will be spending our money elsewhere in the future...

On the flip side, I got a Tesco delivery for the first time in ages this week. Not only have I food for a week, or more, at a total of £45 (should have been £55 inc. delivery but used a code) but....
    Nescafe, 200g plus 50% free, so 300g = £4.00
Product replacement but price matched to the value range I had ordered...several items... added up to around £5.00ish in total - didn't realise they did this.
Delivered to my kitchen, by a really friendly guy...for £3.50 (cheaper by over half compared to bus fare - probably equivalent to petrol)
Saved me at least three hours of my day (travel, plus shop time as it only took me about 20/30 mins online).
All in all, a fab experience and I am definitely doing it again. Oh, and I can't remember the last time I did a big shop personally, that was under £60.
    Kudos to the Tesco!

Well let's hope the next one does.....
And as you have been saying.... the telly price could go down... or you could get a product replacement and have a 50" when you thought you bought a 19"..... lol

All of the offers state "valid from (date) to (date)". I check that before I put items in my basket and make sure the offer is valid on the day of delivery.
Here I go again on my own....

I think we have learned our lesson... guess we have to make sure any offer is valid on the day we book our DELIVERY and not when we make the purchase....

[EDIT] I'm told that this wasn't a special.... it was an actual price as the offers are flagged as such....
