Hi PP
I use my easiyo all the time without the sachets.
You will need a litre carton of whole UHT milk, a starter pot of natural yoghurt,(ihave found yeo valley the best 38p asda), about 3 tablespoons of dried milk.
Put yog in your large jar, addthe uht milk up to mark on side of jar, add dried milk powder. Stir and put lid on.
Boil kettle and fill the big white flask up to the top of the red baffle.
Put the tall jar of yog mixyure into the big white flask and screw on lid.
leave for 8-12 hours or overnight.
Voila - lovely creamy yoghurt.:T
(save a few tablespoons of this to start next batch)
You can store in big jar or put in smaller containers it is up to you. I find it keeps about a week too. Add your own flavours, fruit etc as you need to.
Hope this is clearer for you to follow.

Hi,
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Easiyo "machine".
I find that my yogurt will keep up to a couple of weeks in a fridge - but it rarely lasts that long. Remember to keep a small portion back (preferably in a separate pot) to act as a starter for your next batch.
Regards,

I know this is an ancient thread, but thought I'd just tag my question to the end rather than starting a new one - hope that's OK.
I'm just wondering what the function of the milk powder is in making the yoghurt - why do you need milk and milk powder? I got an Easi-yo yoghurt maker last week & we've made a couple of batches with the sachets - very successfully, and a couple with just milk (one with room temp UHT & one with heated full cream milk) - these have been less successful, still yoghurt, but on the thin side.
Any thoughts from all you hardened yoghurt makers?0 -
I find that the milk powder helps to thicken the yoghurt. I still had a few times when i wasnt happy though and it just wasnt thick enough. I usually use kefir now as its got much more probiotic bacteria in it and its free!
The Lidl bio yoghurts in the blue pot seem to work best for me when I'm doing yoghurts and they aren't too expensive. I've not had any luck with the vanillia ones though, shame0 -
ooh you've just reminded me i've got an easi yo gatheering dust on the top of me cupboards :rotfl:
i started to lose heart with it cos it wasn't thickening up, so i was straining it thru some muslin. however, i was using SKIMMED uht milk, will this have made a difference, or should i have been using full cream?0 -
ooh i have one i havent used for a while just because i didnt want to buy the sachets!! so does it really work if you just make your own concoction and not use the sachets?!!0

Hi,
Would I have to use a whole litre of UHT milk in the easiyo jar, or could I use just 500ml as I don't want to make a litre of yogurt? I assume that the temperature is the important thing in the yogurt maker as opposed to the volume, but I could be wrong?!?! Enlighten me someone, please!!0
