Hi, I have made a few of batches of yoghurt in my easiyo, and I have found if you use the skimmed UHT milk it is more like drinking yoghurt, but if you use the whole UHT milk it is lovely and thick. I have just bought some Semi-skimmed UHT and I am going to give that a go (hope it come out as a thick yoghurt), but I have to admit that the whole milk is much better. :rotfl:0 -
I`ve got a rosemary conley yoghurt maker, but I take it they all work the same way. I`ve always make it this way & its always been very thick.
1 3/4 pint UHT skimmed milk add 3 oz skimmed milk powder (i always sieve this, to make sure its disolved properly) then heat in the microwave for 1 1/2-2mins, so its warm, stir in 1 small pot of natural yoghurt (I use yeo valley natural yoghurt) then put in yoghurt maker overnight, for 8-10 hrs.Perfect results everytime:T0 -
I've got an easiyo yoghurt maker but I refuse to use a whole sachet of their yoghurt starter to make the yoghurt!. What I do is take about a tablespoon of the yoghurt mix and warm it (not too hot) in some semi skimmed milk. I then put it in the plastic container add boiling water around it and leave for 24 hours. I even made it with a mix of soya and normal milk. Works out fine for me and one sachet lasts a long time.0

my god i forgot about my yoghurt maker!!!!
the only problem i found was teh cost of the sachets!!! i loved to get a mix of the flavours but it really got too expensive but to think of it i still buy tesco value yougurt and spend a good £2 a week on them so 2 sachets wuld cover me for the same amount of time!!
well that will be me off in town on saturday looking at the prices of the sachets again!!I love War Of The Worlds:heart2:

oh it works out much cheaper if you do it like the other posters, using UHT milk, 2 or 3 tbsp dried milk and 1/2 a tub of yeo valley live yogurt0

I was tempted to buy QVC's Easi Yo TSV today but considered how expensive it is for basically 10 tubs of yougurt.
I have been buying 500g of Low Fat Natual Yougurt in Lidl for 35p but fancy trying making my own the OS way as I have the Easi Yo maker anyway.
Any suggestions on flavourings to add?

Whatever takes your fancy!! I always add it when I'm going to eat a bit, so keep the whole lot natural then put some in a bowl and add flavouring then. I do this as I use natural yoghurt in cooking and marinades and stuff, and I don't always like to have the same flavour all the time!!
Can add honey, jam, bits of fruit, pureed fruit, anything really! Your yoghurt is your oyster!!Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

Do you mix the kefir with the yoghurt starter, and in what quantities. I've never thought of using kefir.
As a side issue, I never use dried milk , as I didn't like the texture. I get great results using a tsp from my last batch , and a litre of UHT milk.0 -
OK. I see from previous posts that using whole UHT milk gives a thicker yoghurt than using skimmed (presumably s-skimmed is somewhere between the two?). Does the type of dried milk you use (ie whole s-skimmed or skimmed) ake a difference to the finished product as well?0

I'm glad there's a Yog thread bounced to the top of the board as I am having problems with my Easiyo
I was using scant 1 litre of UHT semi skimmed milk and two tablespoons of Tesco Value natural yoghurt straiight in the tub overnight but it was too runny. I have just tried scant 1 litre of semi skimmed UHT with two tablespoons of Yeo Valley Natural Yoghurt and I was rewarded with a slimy lumpy funny tasting mess.
What am I doing wrong? I want reasonably thick natural yoghurt [stamps feet]0
