Kettle with Unexpected Feature

Hi,
We bought a new kettle from comet. It is a digital kettle that changes colour as the water heats up.
Once we got it home and set it up we discovered that the kettle beeps when it is placed on or removed from the base.
Can we return it on the basis that this is an unexpected feature that is not stated on the packaging (it is in the instructions)
(reason for the beep being a problem is that it is the same pitch as our smoke alarm and it REALLY upsets the dog)

What model is it ? Just curious as to whether this is stated anywhere on the website either ?0

I don't think you have grounds for return just because a feature is not mentioned on packaging. Our freezer "beeps" if you leave door open for longer than a couple of minutes, but don't recall seeing this mentioned on the box it came in.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

I honestly don't know but i must admit your complaint make me laugh. It seems a bit odd that it would be same pitch as fire alarm. The dog will get used to it.0

Why would it need to be removed from the base for more than say 30 seconds??
(Or am I just a dedicated "put the kettle back on the base when I've poured the water" person??)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
The kettle doesn't do what you want it to do, i.e. be moved beep free.
If there is no information about this and you were not made aware of it before purchase then you might have a case to say it is not fit for purpose (from your point of view)
Just speculating but no harm in taking it back and asking.0 -

It just beeps once when removed and once when replaced.
But it sends the dog loopy! trying to get under furniture, squeeze into corners, scaping at the floor etc etc. we had trouble with the smoke alarm previously - a faulty detector - that was beeping every few minutes to indicate low battery but we never noticed it at first. We couldn't work out what was wrong with the dog. It must have been like chinese water torture for her.
she is VERY upset. not just mildly bothered! The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -

The kettle does something that no other kettle i have ever come across does. Hence i reckon i have a chance. It's not something found on a kettle (but then neither is colour changing lights!
)
Anyone else have a kettle that beeps???The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -

not on comet or breville websites. it was heavily discounted so probably being discontinued. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -
We sell a similar kettle at where I work (not exactly the same). It has a switch under the power base to turn the noise off. Does yours?0
