Hi again!
Sorry for the confusion,
I did speak to "someone" on the phone, and they didnt say what position they held.
They were just booking the appointment.
As for billbennet's post, i think i will print that off and see how close you were when i go in:D
I have in the past asked to see someone about loans etc and they did try and offer me account upgrades etc etc at the time.
Watch this space and thanks for everyones input!!0 -
A little update for you all:D
Went in this morning as arranged and was welcomed by my 'advisor'.
He sat me down and asked if everything was all ok etc and he did go through all available options ie mortgage, life insurance etc etc, but even he couldnt suggest anything that would be in my favour EXCEPT....
Upon finishing, he looked at my current offers, which included several like a mahooooosive overdraft, loan offer etc, but at the bottom was a Platinum CC offer with a respectable credit limit and 12 months 0% interest which will be perfect for my holiday!
:T
Result!
Very nice chap who didnt try the hard sell at all.
Therefore, im glad i didnt cancel and it always pays to go in with an open mind as you never know what you might get:D

Don't be fooled, the niceness is all a cunning facade.
You've probably taken out a 2000% APR loan without realising it, as well as signing away your soul and promising him your first born child.0 -

Very true, people are always nice when they want your money.Money is a wise mans religion0 -

I really dont understand what everyones problem is.
I got a deal that I was happy with, and was served by someone that didnt give two hoots if i took anything or not.
If i had not have taken the appointment i would never had known about the CC offer and i would have been worse off.
As it is, i am able to pay for my holiday this year and be able to pay it off over time rather than in one lump sum.
Relax people.
Not everyone in the world is that bad.0 -
I think the point people are trying to make is that you were sold something you didn't want. If you wanted credit, you would have actively looked for some.
Check that the 0% is actually on purchases for twelve months as the Platinum CC with 0% for 12 months on their website is only for balance transfers. 0% on purchases is only for 3 months.0 -
I was not SOLD anything, i was offered it, which i accepted.
There was no hard sell at all.
Yes, it is on purchases for twelve months as i discussed with him what i was going to use it for and he did ask me if i wanted to do a transfer at the same time, and i declined.
They have two offer rates. One for 6months 0% and one 12 months 0%. Depends how much you have in the bank and how you run your account.
I was offered and took the latter.0 -
Glad they were able to help you Jason, have a great time
) (I'm also fed up of constant negativity)

It is worth going in the branch sometimes, you never know what you will be offered and nothing ventured nothing gained.
And in reality the banks 'hard sell' is nothing like Florida timeshares or Spanish villas! These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
If I went in to Lloyds and asked for an offer, due to my CPD flag I'd probably be offered the door out! :rotfl:
(I really must commit myself to leaving them, but it took me 10 years to leave Nationwide)I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0
