I think your manner with people is truly awful and not that you'd expect from someone who has 'financial & life experience'. I'd be interested in what you do for your living and I would be sure, that it includes providing a service or product in some capacity?

Okay, I'll bite. I've worked in sales and customer services for over 15 years. And no, I have NEVER knowingly missold anything to anyone. I'm great at what I do and pride myself on my integrity.

You know?.....integrity......something that it seems some sales people and corporations seem to be so lacking.

Having worked in sales for so long, I find some of the sales techniques employed by some companies such as Lloyds pretty abhorrent and am not afraid to call it when I see it.

Whether you like it or not, on face value, the OP has been sold a bum deal (as are thousands of others each year up and down the country) under the guise of an "account review" with their bank who are by definition in a position of trust. A disgustingly misleading sales technique which I would never accept to stoop to.

So tell me, why are you so interested in me? [rolls eyes.....]

I agree - they shouldn't be allowed to call it a financial review. It's totally misleading, and stressful for those not in the know. They think they are being hauled in to see the bank manager about an irregularity, and then to their relief, it isn't and willingly buy anything thats on offer. I think in the same way that the FSA doesn't allow them now to be called "Financial Advisers", they should be forced to rename a financial review as a "Sales Pitch" or something similar

I'd never call 'it' a financial review.

That doesn't render it useless though. I'm well aware of the position of trust I am in - in many ways it's crazy in 2010 that people expect impeccable behaviour from banks.

I did send someone round to Santander for one of their ISA's though today. I had saved him £240pa on his home insurance and wasn't going to pretend our 0.55% was a good deal.

I was thinking more along the lines of Barclays :rotfl:

But I remember that Barclays had CAPs - Customer Action Prompts they would say things like 'customer has children, would they like a financial review?' sometimes they were so wide of the mark it was stupid!
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
