Appointment With the Bank Manager

Morning all

Had a phone call this week from my local Lloyds branch asking me to make an appointment with them for an account review.

Made the appointment and have just received a letter asking me to bring in all sorts of personal details, eg nat insurance number, income and expenses, details of any savings or investments etc etc.

Why on earth would they need all these if they are just reviewing my account???

Cheers!

They want to sell you something. A Credit Card/loan/account upgrade.

I've got a CPD marker which is preventing me from any of the above.

Funnily enough, I have never been contacted about a review. Even though they state in your welcome pack that you'll get a courtesy call a few weeks after opening the account and then get a review invitation after 6 months. I never got either.

    Funny that, isn't it? ;)
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

whyever do you want to go for a financial review with them?
if you feel you would benefit from a financial review then go see an IFA rather than a bank who will only act in the bank's interest.

I expect the bank are looking at getting you to sign up for a credit card, loan or an insurance type product. They have no right to ask you to bring anything other than proof of who you are.

The only time I would take saving/investment details etc, is if I was having trouble managing my money/account and thought they could advise me, a way of rejigging my finances, to assist me.

EDIT......Just to say I have avoided speaking to my bank for years now, cause I know they will want to try to hard sell me something. I'm happy with my current situation, so don't want to change it.

Im not too worried about it TBH, as i will be in town anyway.

However, when i get there, the first words that will come out of my mouth will be.... "whatever you do, don't try to sell me anything or ill walk straight back out the door".

The only thing I can think of that the OP will be doing to anyone's benefit by attending is stopping the "bank manager" hard selling to another customer. ;)

As i said, i will be walking past the door into town anyway, so its no bother.

You never know, i might be able to get a good deal on a CC as i cancelled my lloyds one a long time ago, after the interest free period ended.

Plus i also have money to pay in.

And also what premier said :D
