I have a personal goal in life, to screw the Supermarket chains for as much as I legally can. This is payback for all the years of overpayment I have made until I saw the light:rotfl::T:rotfl::T0 -

"The larger size holds more!" [Sales slogan from the 1950's].
Actually, it often doesn't. I frequently find that it's cheaper to buy several smaller packs. Coffee and washing powder are particular offenders."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -
I enjoy Tesco's Rough Oatmeal biscuits and have been buying them regularly for a long time, having initially established that they both tasted good and were the cheapest.
It so happened that I went to purchase another box a few days ago I noticed that the biscuits slid from one end to the other. That drew my attention and I thought, Oh no, not another case of over packaging.
Then I noticed that the box size was the same as the old traditional manufacturer's rough oatcake...NAIRNS. I'm 65 and I remember these as a lad!. Then my shock came when I noticed that the Tesco box was 250grams and the Nairn box was 300grams! At the same price, this made the Tesco version 20% MORE expensive than the 'Proper' brand. Although the saving won't hoist me into the easy life and make a sea change to my disposable income it really was Bl**dy annoying and I told the manager so.
The MORAL of the story is that you just cannot assume that the store brands are cheaper....keep your eyes open on the Price per 100g or litre or whatever.....YOU CANNOT TRUST ANYONE...SADLY. I think that it's got worse, during my lifetime, as the UK has adopted the hard and sharp ruthlessness of the American business practices.

Am I the only one that thinks own brand options don't always have to be the cheapest for everything all the time?0
