How about a bunch of flowers, but using the same type that you had at your wedding. It would then remind you of the special time when he gave you away.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Hi hun, so sorry for your loss.
My stepdad sadly passed away in November, when i went to see him in the chapel of rest i took a flower from my wedding bouquet-artificial flowers as he gave me away.
For his funeral we each took a single flower and placed it on the coffin during the service.
There were a couple larger floral tributes but everyone who attended the service laid a flower.
We also had donations to our local hospice in his memory.
This year both my sister and her 8 year old daughter and me + my 7 year old daughter are running race for life in his memory.
Wishing you all the best at this sad time xMy beloved dog Molly27/05/1997-01/04/2008RIP my wonderful stepdad - miss you loads:Axxxxxxxxx:Aour new editionsSenna :male: and Dali :female: both JRT0 -
Hi, if your Grandad was not into flowers how about a tree dedication the national trust? i think or something to do with the woodland trust. Not sure of the cost but i don't think it is expensive.:T
You could make a little picture with a tree on surround by flowers or leaves picked from your own garden ie Holly /Oak etc with a dedication on so all can see what you did.
Online these days you can search many sites that do poems or verses, strangely you will be guided to the right one for you and your Grandad.;)
The loss of a much loved one always hurts, there is nothing that eases it apart from time.:A0 -

as a florist, I would say a single rose says an awful lot more than a big showy wreath or spray.0

Yes, I thought this would be interesting, as my Nan passed away last week, but then I realised the thread was old!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

It might help other people to read through it though if they are in similar situattion as more people lurk than post.
When my father died in 2010 I was adamant that I didn't want some namby pamby chrysanthemums because my Pa was very much larger than life. So I had a florist put a dozen red Grand Prix roses in cellophane sheath to show them off, no bows or anything - only cost £50 but looked perfect.0 -

For some reason, Jelly re-opened this thread after 2 years.
At the same time, there was another identical thread running which was current (started on 2/5/2012):

Sorry to hear about your nan, Abbafan1972. I hope you got your flowers sorted.
If I was the OP (who is still actively posting on this forum) I would be really hurt to see this thread brought back up.
Ironically, Jelly says this. The loss of a much loved one always hurts, there is nothing that eases it apart from time.:A1
