The tax calculator link posted above also works for me.0

HM Revenue and Customs own online SA Tax Return provides a pretty comprehensive tax calculation unless you have complex calculations or would like to check specific tax implication eg on disposal of capital assets.Client Adviser at taxpenny.co.uk0

Great! the HMRC site does free returns - BUT NOT IF YOU'RE A PARTNERSHIP!!!!!
My wife and I were self employed photographers working in partnership, so we have to do individual and partnership returns.
Unemployed now and claiming JSA - but WE have to buy software to do our return for the partnership.
Out of order if you ask me.
Does anyone know of any free software that will do the individual returns plus the short pages for partnerships?
Cheers,

I was just about to purchase Taxcalc 2004 for completing my tax return when I came across a company that provides a free product that does a similar job.
freefile
It's on the offiicial list of Inland Revenue authorised software packages.
Please note that this software is no longer free. It is, however, still cheaper than Tax-calc.0 -
Hi, Wonder if anyone can help.
I am not registered for self assesment.
I have tried but I need a UTR reference which the tax office have to allow me to use.
In the last couple of years they have not allowed me to register for self assesement because my affairs are realtively simple.
Their instructions were simple to send them a letter with
1) pernsion contributions
2) savings interest
3) charity donation (gift aid)
Last year that went fine.
This year I send the same letter expecting a very small difference and they say I owe £500.
I'm certain this is wrong because almost everything is catered for with PAYE (except the above which will have slight variations from last year).
Given that I can't use the IR software and can't regsiter for SA, then is there some S/W I can use that includes the items above?
Actually I don't think it can be too bad to do by hand if you know all the tax bands etc.
Thanks0 -

Hi, I am wanting to go over my PAYE in detail over the past 5 financial years as I believe I may have been overpaying due to working some part years through redundancy. Is there any software which will allow me to do this and submit paperwork into the IR to back up my claim? I can only find software available for FY 09/10. I would be very grateful for any advice?0

Thanks Mike,
I've had a quick look and as a ready reckoner looks ok. I was hoping there would be some approved software that could print the forms out too, like old versions of tax calc or andica which are still available. I'm also particularly interested also in relief for expenses paid at source as I did a lot of business travel. I understand the regulations around this have changed though i still feel i might be eligible for previous years.0
