I find some of the comments on here disgusting. If someone pays for shopping to be delivered and it doesn't get delivered at the time stated (barring the van breaking down or bad weather stopping delivery) then the OP is within their rights to demand redelivery at HER convenience not theirs and not have the money charged again. Surely in this day and age there are systems in place which can detect that the delivery was not made and the original order resent (if the cost has changed then the difference can be charged for/refunded as necessary). I have been getting shopping with Tesco for well over a year now and apart from one month where there were several damaged items never had any trouble. Until tonight that is. I booked delivery for between 9-11, no show at 11.10 so phoned local store to find out where my order was and found they had returned it to the store. Apparently they tried to phone and didn't get an answer. Now, that was my fault as I hadn't updated my details with my new phone number. However, I don;t think that should stop them ringing the damn doorbell. I am really annoyed about it as I now have to go down to the store tomorrow to sort it all out. I'm not phoning CS as it will cost a fortune on the mobile so they can phone them. Why they couldn;t just get the order put back on the van and sent out again is beyond me as the store is only about a mile down the road. They did say I could go down and collect it myself but why should I pay for a taxi?

Not sure if its just me being thick, but if you live only a mile from your nearest store why would you get your shopping delivered? Unless you really couldn't get out of the house or something, you could even walk 1 mile it's not far :rotfl:

Yes they should have delivered between 9-11, but if you are going down there you may as well pick up the order and ask for a refund of the delivery charge, if its a large order then maybe wheel it back to your house in a trolley :j

I always get a big order which would too much for a taxi, I also have physical problems so appreciate the service with the delivery people delivering the heavy stuff. Don't see why I should get it myself anyway as it was their fault it happened (I know the phone number was wrong but there is nothing wrong with the doorbell. They even had the cheek then to put the status of my order as Delivered so that will probably be a pain to sort out as well

...... but when you are on your own without family around you and very little money .....?

Don't take this the wrong way but having two young children and now pregnant again... do you not have a partner/husband/boyfriend who can help you out more??
  • It happens. At the end of the day, people who work at Tesco are people. Not robots. People make mistakes. Anyone would be annoyed, I would be too. Don't waste your day being mad about it, have a cuppa tea then a nice hot bath or something and move on. Life is far too short to get hung up on stupid things. Trust me. Your blood pressure will thank you.
  • Mind you saying that, I might have to get knocked up too so I can have a sympathy vote for when things go wrong.
