Hi all I'm hoping someone can offer a little advice on what to do next. I'm so angry so please bare with me. I was ment to have my grocery shopping delivered today between 10am 12pm, at 12.50pm still no shopping or call to say why my delivery is late so I called the helpline who told me that there was no notes regarding the driver running late so they would call the store to find out what was going on I was put on hold for 10mins then was told that they could not contact the driver as his mobile phone was just ringing and ringing, I explained that I needed to go to a doctors appointment at 2.15pm and would be home by 3.30pm so please make sure the driver knows not to delivery between them times, 10 mins later I got a call back from the helpline to say they still was unable to talk to the driver but they have left a message on his voicemail. I got home at 3.15pm waited untill 4.15pm but still no shopping so I called the helpline back to be told that the driver had tried to delivery my shopping to the wrong address and because they had no answer at the wrong address my shopping had now gone back to the store. I was so angry after explaining to them that I'm expecting a baby and I also have 2 small children to feed but now I have no food and no money left in my bank to buy dinner for tonight they said that they can't do anything about it they are not going to redeliver today and the only avaliable delivery slot left now is for tomorrow night which is no good, so then they said to me that they can refund my money back but that it takes 2 days to clear, what am I ment to do in the mean time? I said this to them but they said that there is nothing more they can do. I'm sitting here in tears I'm 7 months pregnant with 2 hungry children and no one at tesco seems to care that all of this is there fault. All I want is my shopping is that to much to ask?

To be honest, whilst I sympathise with your situation, it's not Tesco's fault that you have no food at all to keep you going until tomorrow night, and had they not been able to deliver due to weather/driver illness/accident with the van the same situation would have arisen and Tesco wouldn't have been to blame. It's easy with hindsight to say that it's not a great idea to wait until the cupboards are bare before ordering a new delivery, but it's worth considering in future.
Do you not have enough spare cash to buy some bread and beans for a quick filler-upper meal for the kids, or is there nothing in the house you can feed your children? If you have any ingredients at all, post them on here and I'm sure someone will be able to come up with a meal you can make from what you have. Or is there a friend or relative who you can go to for dinner? I'm sure being awash with pregnancy hormones is probably making it all seem much worse, so try not to let yourself get any more worked up - I'm sure there must be some way round this.0 -
I have to agree with RadoJo. Mistakes happen, and one has happened here. It is not their fault that you have no food in the house.
I am agoraphobic, I get my shopping done for me once a week. That day varies between a Thursday and a Sunday, and I cannot dictate which day it will be. I always ensure I have sufficient food in the house until Monday ... Just in case!Gone ... or have I?0 -
I can see that you are angry and why you are angry, but sitting there ragng will not solve your problem. As mentioned before, i am sure that you can rustle up something and make do, and you must have friends or family that will help out if the cupboards are really that bare.:silenced:They Were Up In Arms wrote: »I think tabskitten is a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living troll :cool:0

Thank you for your replies, I appreciate what you all are saying but I think your comments are very unfair, it's very difficult to juggle 2 small children whilst being heavily pregnant, apart from my weekly Dr appointments i cannot do or go anywhere else because of complication's which I have regarding my pregnancy, yes I would normally have more food in the house in case of situations like this but when you are on your own without family around you and very little money you do tend to live week by week. if it was that easy to go to the local shop to buy grocery's then yes I would have but every penny I have is accounted for, the reason why I'm so angry is because of the lack of compassion, not only was I spoken to in a very rude manner on several occasions I was also told throughout the day that it would be delivered but because the Driver went to the wrong address it would have to be loaded onto the van again, I wad told on many occasions that it would be delivered later on that day, of course I'm going to trust them it's not as if my delivery was booked for a evening time slot it was a morning one, they had all day and the evening right up until 11pm to delivery my food. When I'm promised by more then one person not to worry and that my shopping will arrive I do tend to believe them I mean we are not talking about my local shop this is a huge supermarket chain . I thought that on-line grocery shopping was meant to be a convenient way for you to shop especially if you are unable to go to the store and shop yourself. let me ask you this would your comments be the same if it was a disabled person posting this?0

Not much help now but if Ocado deliver in your area give them a go, they offer 1 hour delivery slots and compare well on many prices (costs nothing to register even if you don't use them and they will probably offer money off to tempt you at some point).
I have used them and never had any problems, on a couple of occasions they called me to check if it was OK to deliver about 20 mins early (if it hadn't been they would still have delivered in the original timeslot).0 -

You seem to have changed your story - you being angry seems to have turned into them being rude.
I am disabled, and one of the things I really struggle with is organisation, but to ensure I have one days extra food really is not difficult, or particularly costly.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Can I ask - what advice you are actually looking for?0

Wow some really bitter people on here !
The OP PAID her money for a service that has not been provided due to Tesco's incompetence !!
I also would be livid !,
Incase some of you hadn't noticed you do actually have to pay a delivery charge, so effectively you have specifically paid them to deliver your shopping during a specific time, through no fault of her the OP has been let down by store.
Also what business it of any of yours as to wether or not she has more food in the house ?? Unbelievable !
To the OP , phone up the store (not the national help line, the actual store) , and ask to speak to the store manager and explain the situation, no need to be rude to them, just explain and im sure they will sort it out, tell them if a driver cant sort it out then get it delivered by a taxi that they can pay for !0
