anguk - do you know what i never thought to Ebay for a new fridge freezer in my area - will nip off and have a nosey now. Thank you

Isnt it weird how many of us have looked/replied to this since i bumped it up yesterday.

I hate our flat we have a huge window in the living room (and we are ground floor) but we get the sun all day in there so its liek asauna but we only have single glazing so when its hot its hot but when its cold its freezing!!
We normally get frost inside the windows despite having blinds and curtains up and I try my hardest to not put the heating on but bf is one of these gets out the shower and sits about in a towel then wonders why hes cold type people who would rather put the heating on than clothes

Lol, don't bank on it. My cats totally refuse to be money saving and are picky individuals. I have successfully pared the human food budget right down, but there has been no reductions in the cat's food budget.

Cats are worth ten times the amount it costs to feed them.

They are the best pets of all IMHO.
:o Keep trying.........................what else is there to do? :o

Sorry if this one might seem a bit obvious but if you need good light to do something eg needlework make sure you're sitting near a window rather before automatically reaching to put the lights on.

LOL!! my dh does this too  ..he will walk around in his shorts after work (he always has a shower when he gets home and changed from his uniform) It doesnt seem to matter what the weather is doing ....I would be a wealthy woman if I had a £ for every time I have said to him to put a jumper on!! But in the winter he sits next to the radiator and turns it up whilst we all melt, I always turn it down the minute he is out of the room:rotfl::rolleyes:

i dont know how we are going to afford to heat the house this winter coming. i have been going round the charity shops on a weekly basis and picking up any wool blankets i can find. the kids and i all have hot water bottles, dressing gowns, warm pjs etc but as the cost of living has gone up so much there isnt much more give in the budget. i dont know what we are going to do if they put gas and electric up much more.

this brings back memories of my childhood. what with the cold lino and the ice on the insides of the windows. I used to wear long flannelette nighties as a child in the 60s, very fetching :D and then get inside a sleeping bag which was under all the sheets and blankets and add a stone hot water bottle.I used to share this arrangement with the cat who used to get under the covers as well as it was so cold in my parents Victorian terrace house.Everyone was in the same position so it wasn't thought too odd. Also had an outside toilet as well and you didn't want to linger too long there in the winter.
    oh happy days.

Dianasnan I grew up in a house like that - the mention of lino has actually made me shiver!

One thing that occurred to me last night as I was cooking my tea (apologies if this has already been posted) - buy a steamer, the type you sit on top of a pan. If you're making pasta and veg in sauce (a frequent meal in my house!), you can do it all on one hob and use half the gas/leccy.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Very much agree..can't believe it myself...something's going to have to give with this one as there is no way a lot of people can afford to heat their homes...

lol my cat tia was the best hot water bottle ive had by far - she use to snuggle right up to me in my bed - lovely and toasty warm.

I hat eour house we have those horrid brown council tiles and lino in it and its freezing, plus our windows are single glazed so it gets extrememly cold - when its windy you can hear the windows flexing with teh wind - not good - and they are super draughty!

I remember my great aunts huse in scotland that had no radiators jsuta fire in the living room to heat the whole hosue and my and my little sister gettign lost under the biggest pile of blankets imaginable - you darent get up to go to the toilet for fear of getting stuck to it
