Hi Mirry
I have a Bichon Frise which is a small white dog about the size of a cat and actually has lots of fluffy hair.
However, we go caravanning a lot and we were away in the summertime a couple of years back and at a boot sale. The wind was blowing a gale and she was starting to shiver. I then had the brainwave of buying a baby jumper as you get lots of those at a boot sale. I bought one and put it on her and got lots of `ahhh` responses from people when they saw her.
Problem solved.
I must say since I have bought her a waterproof coat but the jumper worked just as well providing it isn't raining.0 -
Hi
just got back form town nwo and wen to the local pet shop adn they had some doggy jumpers in tehre for a fiver, was going to buy on eof them until i mentioned i really wanted a coat for him as he is a jack russell/staffy cross - he looks liek a jack russell but is slightly bigger (but not as big as a staff) just more ample but he has short hair like a staffy so he was really feeling the cold.
Anyway she said well i have littel jackets too - and i thought 'oh a cheapy one' that does up round his neck and under his bum and thats it. But no. She brought out this cute little like doggy puffa jacket. It has its littel knitted arm bits btu the body is sort of padded and slightly insulated adn he has velcro donw his tummy and a strap to go under his belly. Plus there s a hole fo rhis lead to go through so it stays in place and isnt affected if hes on a lead. Plus tis got a little pocket on the back so he can carry his own doggy bags. He looks so cute and cuddly in it - he seems alot happier now that hes nto so cold - might go back tomorrow and see the woman adn pick up a few doggy jumpers - that way he can wear his jumper in the hosue and save his coat for when he goes outside.
Whats even cuter is that i came home and totally forgot id brought ben a puffa waistcoat last year that was miles too big but fits him this year tidy - lol they are the same colour too so now him and the dog have matching puffa jackets!!!!Time to find me again0 -
sammykaye , thats really had me laughing !!!
How cute, id never heard of a puffa jacket for a dog ?
My poor puppy (a border terrier,8 months old) has shivered today out in the wind and the only wool i have is the fluffy wool which isnt very warm.
I couldnt find any thermal fingerless gloves in town so I purchased some thermal socks for £2 that are very long in length going up the leg,
i cut the leg bit off at the ankle and folded it over and sewed it up,
then I cut out a hole for my thumb !!!
They are lovely and warm and only cost £2 for a pair of thermal gloves
now what should I do with the foot bit of the socks ? any ideas ?Kindness costs nothing0 -
just worked out that the foot bit left over will make a pair of gloves for my daughter,
so infact work out £1 each lol.Kindness costs nothing0 -

Still holding out without central heating, the kids are not complaining and we are consuming gallons of soup and tea (prob. spending nearly as much money and energy as if we had central heating, but hey, it's the principle that counts LOL).
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
They say it is warmer near the city.
I live in a suburb of London and haven't needed the heating on at all yet.
I knew there must be some compensation to offset all the high prices here.0 -
Hi everybody
It's not been cold in Blackpool yet either (normally its really chilly by now due to the sea breeze) :j :j
I'm not complaining because once it does get cold I suffer. Our house is Victorian and no matter how many gaps we fill there always seem to be more to let cold air in.
So I'm madly knitting at the moment ( so far we've all got scarves and I'm knitting a blanket and I'm also learning to crochet) so that I've got throws and blankies to keep us warm.
I'm hoping this weather will hold a little longer yet because the longer this holds the less gas and electric bills will be (I hope):o
