There is a new fuel line coming from a Scandinavian country I think that will mean cheaper bills in the long term though.
This is true, yesterday energy traders were selling natural gas for a LOSS

I can't hold out anymore, I've had the heaters on in the bedrooms for the past two nights
PREDOMINANTLY because of the damp we get in this house  and partly as I need to get washing dry and I haven't time to run to the laundrette ATM, plus that costs money which I haven't got.
Yesterday I put the heater on low in our bedroom at 7.30am, switched it off at 9.30am then shut the door and left the blinds open (the sun was warm through the window but not when you got outside!). I put it back on at 3pm when I got in and switched it off at 10.30pm when I was finally switching the light off to go to sleep but only as I was drying clothing in thereDD's heater went on at 6.30pm when she went to bed and then off again at 10.30pm so it's not like I leave them on ALL night. She needs to have some heat though as her bedroom is nearly always cold
We haven't put the fire in the livingroom on yetWe just layer or drink hot drinks.

This is the one problem I am having, my clothes are taking 3/4 days to dry at the moment and then they're smelling damp. Any suggestions or am I just going to have to put a heater on?Saving for an early retirement!0 -
I bought some nightlights from Habitat (we had some vouchers to use up) so these keep the living room nice and warm for now without needing the heat on. I have £7 left on vouchers so may get 3 more bags of nightlights for winter...
We make sure we close the doors and just stay in the living room, plus I leave clothes to dry in living room or in kitchen. If in kitchen, I leave oven door open after cooking so that clothes get a helping hand...MFW #185

Night lights are very small so how many do you use to keep you warm? I've got some and may have to use them soon!0

I will start to use around 8 each evening, 3 nearest the window, even though it's double glazed. Plus I have one of those long burning scented candles that's still good for another few nights and adds white peach aroma to the room...
As each bag has 50 and some of the night lights don't need to be replaced each evening, it will stave off Winter (ie: putting the central heating on) for that liiiitle bit longer...MFW #185

Only a small saving on the electricity. Before you turn on the oven to bake your cake make sure you've already greased and lined your tin and combined any dry cake ingredients. The number of times I've wasted oven heat when it's already up to hear and I'm still pfaffing about doing these bits!!

I am going to hold out until November (very determined).
A friend of mine recommends this company for thermals, the delivery is only £3 and they cater for children.
I have just placed an order and think the prices are quite reasonable

Just bought one, and if the rest of the family want to be warm, they can cuddle up to me:DHe who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Hi All
Had to giggle ive been in competition with my MIL as to who can hold out with no central heating on for longest. I WON!!!!!!!!
She has her 9 year old grandson who lives with her and i have a 2 year old so we both had kids to consider too. But my god its been chilly lately. Well yesterday i was dreading changing Ben for bed so i simply left him (he fell asleep on the sofa) so he went to bed in a a vest a long sleeve top and trousers, then as i cuddled him up unde his duvet with his big cuddly teddy he asked for his bobby blanket (fleece bob the builder blanket) so i gave him that - double folded it - and put it on top of his duvet and he slept soundly until 7.30am this morning.
Think i will do the same tonight but will change and bath him tonight. Plan is to put water on about 7pm, leave it an hour and a bit to warm the water up for dish washing etc, bath Ben at 7.30ish, then switch water off and use remaining hot water for dishes. may possibly leave it on longer if bf wants a bath. but am definately going to make sure our dressing gowns are hanging in bath room so they can stay heated up and ready to go on after the bath!
Think it might be time to dig out my PJs soon and start usign the hot water bottles. At the mintue it says 15 degrees on my temp gauge and both me and ben are sat here in trousers, tshirts and fleece tops. lovely and warm though!
OOOHHH Brainwave - any leftover warm water after Bens bath adn dishes think i might pour some in a hot water bottle and put it in Bens bed so its ncie and warm for when he gerts in it afterwards - he wont go to bed until 8 - 8.30ish so it should heat the bed quite nicely and have cooled just enoguh for it to be comfy for him when he gets in.
good good - think some baking is in order tonight too to get the hosue heated a little bit. Need to find a doggy proof warming solution for pooch soon too. Fingers crossed the new hosue we are hopefulyl going to be moving to will be better insulated but hes going to be in the kitchen in the new house so want somethign to keep him warm as he is a short haired jack russell
Which reminds me - any keen knitters online?? im totally hopeless and dont know anyone who knits so if anyone could lend me a hand and make a doggy jumper for my little pooch then id be very grateful!!!!!! Ill refund the wool costs of course!!!!!!Time to find me again0
