You mean like the stickers my washine machine has on it to show which lights need to be lit before they set it running :rotfl:

Nah! Let them learn the microwave the hard way... it's only one button once, and a second button twice -- hardly mind-blowingly difficult ;)

Just entered todays meter readings into imeasure.org.uk -- the third Tuesday I've done this, so still only getting weekly comparisons

Results as follows -- compared to the averages (figures in brackets) our gas is looking good (with our actual daily average running 3kWh/day down on the same last August to early October period of last year looking at my bills), but the electricity (which is working out exactly the same) appears to need some major work doing to it  At a quick glance round the house I'm really struggling to find anywhere I can significantly cut back on this though  And it's actually going to be heading upwards if I start making my own bread on a regular basis, which had been the plan until now :(

You chose to compare your household with Gas/electric households/Detached house.
Your results are being compared with the averages of 88 households.

We have our leccy usage gadget, courtesy of E-on, but I'm wondering just how accurate they are.

The reason is, it has an integral clock, which seems to run 4 or 5 minutes slow in every 24 hour period, and I wonder, if the clock can be this inaccurate, can I trust the leccy readings it's giving me?

Hmmm fair point made. My monitor also shows inaccurate temperature readings too. ...I suppose it gives us a bit of an idea though but best not to rely on it for exact readings:confused:
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

cw18 you can make nice bread in a frying pan. Just make rolls and flatten them. They are lovely and much cheaper to cook. Any children could make their own shaped bread

I wouldn't worry at this level of inaccuracy, it's less than half of one per cent:D If all the readings are out by that much it won't add up to much. ;)
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

sounds a fab idea for when I have my GDs over, but it's loaves I need to make. Hubby doesn't like/won't eat HM rolls, so I stock up on the sliced Warburton ones he likes when I find them in clearance, especially when I have some freezer space (and due to him being ill I have to confess to not pushing the issue on this)

I've been meter reading and energy monitoring and found they're roughly in agreement even though the cloclk seems to be a few minutes slow , as mentioned.

Would it be possible to iron the shirt the night before and put it on a hanger maybe on the wardrobe doorknob ready for the morning? Just a thought.
I seem to remember in the Winter of Discontent in the 70's we had some idea of when power cuts would happen and could schedule things accordingly. Don't know if that will be the case this time around though.

Well I may do my daughter's at night but my husband never irons his shirt then even though I do suggest it.

He can't be bothered so irons every morning.

What? Me iron his shirts? He is ex RAF so he can do his own, he has had enough practise.

    :)

My grown up sons now iron their own shirts but I insist they do them all at the same time - can't be warming iron up every day.
