BigMummaF - where did you get your teacosies from or did you make them? I have a teapot but no cosy which puts me off using it!0

I have and use, 3 different teapots. Much nicer tea
The kettle does not need to boil hard so that it clicks off. Listen for the rolling sound and you`ll save electricity time after time
re the water runoff, we always run it into the kettle and give it a blast of heat then add it to the washing up water. Those of us on water meters need to be mindful of the cost of water too. I have just had the last energy bill so from hereonin it is going to go up as we cope with the autumn/winter :rolleyes20 -
not sure if anyone else does this (you probally do) when making cheese on toast i put 2 slices of bread in each toaster slot so that only one side of each gets toasted then i butter the 'raw' side and sprinkle the cheese on that before putting under the grill. it means i can do 4 slices at a time instead of 2 so im using less leccy, and also less chance of burning the crusts while you are melting the cheese.
hopefully someone will find it useful;)SPC~12 ot 124

I do the same but don't use butter; instead I sprinkle on some Worcestershire sauce and then add cheese.0 -
I'm finding the whole kettle-boil debate interesting....we still use a tea-pot & one kettle-full SIZE=1]& 5 t/bags[/SIZE gives enough water to produce at least seven decent mugs of tea. Me muvva still lives independantly & she has an array of smaller teapots that will supply three cups at least & we both use a good, thick cosy to keep the pot warm.
Are we that old fashioned?
We use a teapot and leaf tea - don't like any teabags. Have to say I prefer making a fresh pot each time but then I only drink one cup at a time.0 -

We also use a tea pot to make tea - it just seems to taste so much nicer! I have a stainless steel flask next to the kettle and whenever we fancy a cup of tea we make a pot full and then fill the flask, so as not to keep boiling for several cups throughout the day.
I love tea-cosies ( I have a rather odd obsession with them:)), and I buy loads from ebay and charity shops - often for a few pennies (plus postage if it is Ebay). We have 'themed' ones, such as an Easter chick, a Pumpkin and a Christmas pudding, alongside knitted ones with tassles, old ones from the 1940's (I love 1940's stuff) and many more! I like the fun 'themed' ones as the kids love to see them change with the seasons...........visitors often treat me like I am mad for making a pot of tea ( are teapots really so out-of-fashion?), and then think me even weirder when they see the tea cosie it is dressed in!0 -
Oh I just got a cosy idea for using up more of my yarn, after I have finished my blanket of course0

My friend popped round today and said to me that I should hang some velvet curtains over my front door , to keep the heat in .
Now this confused me because my front door is double glazed and has a double glazed window to the side of it with some panelling.
Would hanging a curtain over this make a difference ?
I suppose its just the same as a double glazed window and we put curtains over them.
Any thoughts on this much appreciated.Kindness costs nothing0
