But have you ever wondered, is it only a northern phrase, or do folks 'down south' use it as well :rotfl: ?

    Hi

We're in Fife, Scotland, and my parents said that to us all the time too when growing up... funny, we always knew what they meant, despite never having visited Blackpool! :rotfl:

I'm from Kent, my parents always used it. Though my mum's mum is from Newcastle, and my dad's dad from Leeds, so maybe there's some northern influence there?

Ebay/carboot the one he's got to put towards the electric bill  . Get someone to give him a rechargeable one (you can probably get solar/usb rechargeable ones) for Christmas. Men like shiny gadgets :D

Hi nicki - ooooooooooh another El Kilos addict, eh?

Love the place :o! My OH dreads me ever going in there - he says it's like a black hole in space and I forget the way out again  . Love their embroidered taffeta :) - makes fabulous rich cushion covers.

I love it - especially downstairs :D I like looking at the "sparkly pretty things" as DD calls them upstairs as well :o Not that I've done anything other than buy cheap material there, but someday I may just venture into making something other than curtains, chair covers & cushion covers :rotfl::rotfl:

There is a thread on the utilities board, the gas/elec sub board about reducing gas and electric. THIS ONE
I think it started on here and was moved by Pink, rather than merging it with this great thread.

Funny, my parents used to say the exact same phrase about Blackpool Illuminations :D . But have you ever wondered, is it only a northern phrase, or do folks 'down south' use it as well :rotfl: ?

we lived 60 miles from blackpool and going there to see the illuminations was such a treat. It was like planning a marathon because 60 miles was a long way in an austin 10 in those days. I`ll never forget the laughing policeman and the wobbly floor

I read my meters every few days but I`m hoping I get out of the urge now that I have things on a roll re energy usage. We use about 7kwh of electricity daily and less than 6 kwh of gas each day but both will go up a lot as the days get shorter and colder. I have scraps of sticky notes all over my last ebico bill but will do a proper table and charts for my own use so I can track year on year and prepare by leaving money in a safety net account for winter. Like the dd`s to the energy company but I am doing the accumulating
