  • I won't go into details as it's a pain typing on the tablet but can anyone advise how to remove the smell of turpentine from a washing machine?

I've tried vinegar and dishwasher tablets to no avail and am now desperate!

    Thanks in advance.
  • I would go for bicarbonate of soda

never tried it in a washing machine, but............. drains, carpets, bathroom, kitchen : does the trick with all smells

    good luck
  • I had the same problem some years ago after I washed some paint rags and I tried everything then my Aussie friend suggested wiping out the drum with neat vanilla extract on a cloth. Sceptical but I tried it and it worked. Hope that helps x

    Hi all

Sorry if this topic has been discussed to death in the past,

Did a 60 degree wash the other day, and since then, my washer smells awful, mouldy even. When washing a load now, the load comes OUT smelling worse than it went in

Please help me with any ideas, as I really dont know how to sort this..

I usually do a hot wash with bleach in when this happens and that usually does the trick :)
  • Hi, you can buy washing machine cleaner but I would be tempted to put a couple of tablespoons of washing powder in the drawer and run empty.

Yes, do a maximum temperature wash with bleach once a month, will keep the bugs away.

Hi guys, I have tried the above, a short wash with bleach, and a cup of washing powder in the drawer, as they are normally my fixes too - but it wont shift it this time

I am sure this washer is probabaly in need of replacing, but our budget says differently at the minute ;(

I am assuming that you have checked all the filters and door seals as a hot wash can sometimes stir things up that have been dormant for a while.

When I do a 'machine cleaning' wash, I stick in a couple of old towels and put it on the hottest wash for the longest time with very little soap and about 2 cups of bleach.
