I do all my washings at 40 degrees and my washing machine also smells really bad, and it's less than 2 years old... any other ideas?
  • put white vinegar in the dispenser and in the drum and set it away on a normal cycle
  • I use a cup of bleach on a hot cycle - then another hot cycle with no bleach. Has worked so far!!

    Hi Zziggi,

This thread has lots of suggestions that should help:

The only time my machine has smelt is when i've used gel or liquid for a while. I've went back to powder.

Well, I did a wash last night and it absolutely STANK!

So, its now on its hottest 95 degree wash with biological washing powder in. Then I'm going to do the same again with white vinegar in it and leave the door open overnight...

Failing all that my flatmate just said we'll need a new machine  and use the tips we've learned from here to keep it nice. It's about 5 yrs old and we have only ever used liquid and 30 or 40 degree washes. Its weird how its become smelly so suddenly though:(

give your empty washer a wash without detergent every so often on no less than a 60 degree wash. It flushes the waste pipes through (you can add vinegar or soda if you want, i dont).
