Back onto the smelly dishwasher from last month. (it's not the dishwasher that smells, it's the plates etc.) I have tried everything but the stuff still smells - I might even get rid of the dishwasher, but it's so convenient. Any technical thoughts from plumbers/dish washer manufacturers? Interestingly enough, it wasn't a problem when I first got the machine, and only started to be a problem a couple of weeks into using it. There must be an explanation out there!
I like your description of wet dog smells - we always say ours smells like fishponds, but I see what you mean.

Since I put a glug of bleach in last week it has smelted much better, was contemplating getting one of those lemon scented things but it didn't seem very money saving. Has anyone tried them?

OH frequently buys the lemon scented hanging things when I'm not looking - have to admit DW does smell fresh when I open it! I sometimes put a slice of lemon in the cutlery basket - similar effect and cheaper!

I know you guys are the ones to help! I hope anyway.

I have a counter top dishwasher and it smells really bad:eek: like pond watery smell - yuk!

I have tried cleaning it by using the dishwaser cleaning products, tried biocarb of soda and even tried stardrops, all that happened was a load of bubbles on the kitchen floor:o

    Any ideas please
