    Wrong again :D

Notice you dont pull up the UW Distributors who just post in this thread and dont contribute elsewhere. Dont want to upset your mates i guess. Hows your shares doing ? Still getting a discount off your UW bill for referring customers.

As per usual, sign in, spew your bile and immediately sign out again. Why don't you stay a while or would that prove impossible? You do share a certain posting style with another user name (oh god, I'm doing it now :rotfl:).

The firm administering the scheme is not the one behind Splash, although given their are a limited number of Mastercard licenced providers I am sure there is some overlap between most prepaid cards.

    Yes I employ staff,
BUT my card I have is nothing to do with my own business.

Not all companies want there product discussed promoted here... for example some years back I asked Martin to remove by businesses details from his articles.

I doubt the schemes ( inc the UW card) would continue if it became that easy to join.

So, in just one short-ish sentence, it actually isn't available to all so isn't actually a viable alternative? Back to Quentin.

PS It IS prepay technologies ltd we are talking about, yes?

Edit: Now you have deleted the post I have quoted above? This is getting bizarre.

Yes I deleted as soon as posted ( you must be quick) decided I have nothing to prove- and don't want to get drawn into a regular postings about UW. ( rather watch paint dry)

If someone wants to join UW to get a discount card - but possibly not getting the best deal in other areas, thats their choice. Personally having looked at UW offering many years ago I decided it wasn't for me, so use alternative suppliers for my telcoms, utilites and discount schemes.

Its promoted via select/ exclusive routes - spend a few hours searching like I did and you can find it .

Suppose the issuer does not want volume in case it spoils it for the elect few? ( I have emailed them and waiting authority to post- but got a feeling they will say no) maybe the avialable routes (including UW) need it to be exclsuive to help promote their own routes

Believe me or not - I don't care ( maybe my posting record / and mentioning in Martin's original book adds a bit of credability )
in meantime happy as it cost me less than a tenner for 2 yrs- and no topup fees and getting 3.5 from 2 major supermarkets and 5% from many other retailers

PS ... Card been posted on this forum before!

I'm confused? Why do you need permission to mention this card? Is it a trade secret, did you sign a legal document saying you would never share this info with anybody when you joined?
Why not PM me if its a massive secret? I really don't have a spare few hours to trawl the internet. You mentioned a card that can match the UW card, so you relly need to deliver the information. If you can't you shouldn't really have mentioned it all!

Like I said, bizarre behaviour. It was you, after all, who introduced the subject in the first place but seemingly like all the others fall down like Audley Harrison when questions are asked. You did originally state:
    same issuer/benefits - different colour .

..but now seem to have come all over all shy. I guess the alternative to the UW card is a bit like the Loch Ness Monster. Plenty of people claim they have seen it but haven't been exactly forthcoming with any tangible proof.

So glad I went 'direct' for my mortgage.

But are you spending too much by shopping at Sainsbury's Meeper when Asda and Tesco are cheaper? It may be that you're spending more than you're saving.

A shop at Sainsbury's would be several pounds dearer than anywhere else for me. Plus spending £1100 a month there seems excessive!
I shop in Sainsbury's. I like their stuff. I have always shopped in Sainsbury's and didn't just start when I joined UW. Sainsbury's is about 500 yeards from my house, whereas Asda, Tesco, etc are miles away and would cost me more to get to. I do indeed spend £1100 per month there as my wife and I work a long way from our homes and spend about £750 per month of that on fuel.

So, what I'm hearing in the deafening silence about my above example is that there are no comparisons and no better ways to get my gas and electricity than what I am doing now with UW.

Will someone please answer a straight question?

I'm the same with my spending at Sainsbury's, it may not be the cheapest, but I think its the best supermarket. I'm not living on a low income, so can easily afford to spend a little extra on my food shopping. My husband travels a lot for work, so the car is always filled up at Sainsbury's petrol station. This is the closest to my house and the most convenient.

If I were ever to move away and have to change to another supermarket, I would look at my options again, right now the UW card is an excellent choice for me and my family and fits in with my shopping style (awaits Q to call me a "busy fool!" ;))

  • Meeper, why not go with a cheaper gas and electric supplier, then use the cashback elsewhere? Then you get the cashback and the cheaper gas/electric bills instead of just one?

Interesting. Please explain how I get the cashback without being a member of UW?

No no no, janninew - you need to look at the Loch Ness Monster (TM) cash back card as recommended by Payless and Q/quentin or even the 'I Don't Use A Cash Back Card But Reserve The Right To Tell Others How to Save Money(TM)' cash back card as recommended by Cardew. Just as long as you don't ask me for any more details. :D Just search for a few years on google or maybe get Jim Rockford involved and you WILL get to see it. :D

Edit: Or, if they 'aint' your 'thang', there's always the 'Oops, I didn't know Asda was included in the UW cash back card scheme so now I've decided I do my main shop in Iceland (TM)' cash back card as recommended by Twitters.
