  • If I only need a couple of things it's more convenient to use cash than a card, plus I budget to only spend a certain amount on my card, so I don't have a huge bill. So it means I don't have to pay interest, so I'm saving more than I'd gain from the points.

As for shopping, I do one big shop a month at Iceland and the rest at Tesco/Asda as they are most convenient. I would use Sainsbury's as their food is better quality but they are too expensive.

Seems you have missed everything that has been said and your logic is totally flawed - Oops!

It's a cycle that I can't get out of to go onto a prepaid card so it isn't suitable for me. As for Asda, still only means I'd get cashback on no more than £200 a month if I moved all my petrol shopping there. So my cashback wouldn't be that much. Irrelevant anyway as s pre-paid card isn't suitable for me at the moment.

Twitters, you have effectively admitted to worrying about controlling your spending on a credit card so maybe you should come to the realisation that that sort of card really isn't for you. ANY pre-paid card would be far safer for you, cash back or not.

Edit: not sure what you mean about 'It's a cycle that I can't get out of to go onto a prepaid card so it isn't suitable for me.' What cycle?

Give it up, you can't win against the people on this forum. I found that out long ago. Leave them to their "reality", and just keep dealing with happy people who can see the benefits.

Sometimes, you see, when you are spreading seed, the birds will get some and eat it. The problem is, if you spend your time chasing the birds away, you leave the field and nothing gets planted any more. Stop chasing the birds and just keep on sewing the seed.

So, back to the energy issue as this is the Gas and Electricity forum. As I said before I was just posting a warning over the UW high prices so people could be careful over how they spent their money.

Just left UTW. The process was painful!

Our Gas & Electric is now projected to drop in cost from £1438 to £983. Having checked the meters for two weeks and compared the usage cost, pretty disappointed with the way the G&E was sold, I understood there to be a triple price guarantee.

As for phone and broadband ( I know this forum does not cover it), we went with Sky and took advantage of the reduction for being a customer. That has really gone down a month, plus a fantastic side effect. Our broadband has got much faster. When swapped from Orange to UTW we noticed it got slower and right up to the point of being blamed by their tekkies for the fault. So that is better. We no longer pay 99p a month for the wireless. I brought one for £3.00 at LIDL. So another saving there. Plus our phone number changed back from 02477 which UTW put us on to 02476 like the rest of our area.

As for the membership fee per month, another saving by doing away with it. The debit card was far too inconvenient to use, I think it took 10 days for the money to appear against the 2 minutes with HSBC or 30 with our cash plus one.

I started out with an open mind on UTW and accept it could work for some. For us, moving away has given us big savings, quite weird how that worked!

I can't see any benefits. Maybe the UW reps need to realise UW is dearer for many people.

Judging by the tone of this post (FIVE question marks?) you would appear to be the type of person who would get angry if inconvenienced for any length of time. ;)

Before engaging with this character, bear in mind what he/she is really about.

This is just another carmine type alterego used by uw to register here (and elsewhere on the net) to promote uw by posing as a satisfied customer (though never admitting any connection).

Elsewhere on moderated forums this has been spotted by the moderaters and appropriate action taken.

Remember he/she tried it on when first posting using the milicent alterego in this thread:
Have to say I've been watching this thread with interest but what confuses me is why there isn't a similar thread on the phone/broadband section? The reason I ask is for people who shop at certain stores their phone/broadband products seem like amazing value! I was introduced to their broadcall by my neighbour who has the same package (and broadly similar shopping habits). All she did was show me her previous month's bill, which came to £7-odd. That was for broadband, phone line rental and calls! So we signed up. Very happy with the service (was with BT before and they were perfectly fine but as I've now realised very expensive!). Our bills average out at approx £9/mth after cash back. I really don't feel there's anything out there that can compete with that but if there is I'm all ears, lol.............Not interested in arguing, btw, just thought I'd add my experiences as a customer...

    Then:
Like I said before, not in any way looking for confrontation but only help from people who obviously have experiences of products I haven't had. Isn't that what this site is all about or have I missed something?

Of course milicent/carmine/etc is well aware what this site is about - he's been here for years promoting uw under his alteregos.

This time the only gullible was Janninew, but as far as we know carmine didn't even do her the courtesy of apologising after she had spoken up for him!

Welcome to the UW thread, it isn't usual to be 'jumped' on as a new poster. Yes we do have new members who are UW reps posting as satisfied customers, but we have also had several new members over the years.............Good luck.

There are no moderators here to deal with the alteregos, but we do have the ignore button!

Care to explain because that comes across to me as patronizing UW rubbish.

Icarminestocky, Carespress, Operastar, now MillicentBystander are all the same person(and he probably has other identities) constantly posting in praise of UW and criticising all other Utility companies.

He is a fraud - pure and simple.

Proof of that, is, of course, to follow in your next post, right? Otherwise you just look foolish.

I mean, someone accused me of being that person after my first post, and I still have no idea who (s)he is...

Meeper has forgotten to mention his connection with the uw too!

Meeper tells us he deals with the "happy" people

We are used to hearing how happy things are at uw from uw rep keggs when he posts here - who is actually far from happy with the uw when posting his complaints about the company where he wants them seen by the uw management!
