Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

Hello, I accidentially started a post about utility warehouse without realising that it is confined to this forum so apologies but could anyone help me with my query please:
Hi All,
My husband and I have just brought a repossesed house which has a number of outstanding debts on utility bills.
The supplier Utility Warehouse have said that all the debts would be cleared once we show that we are the legal owners and the date at which we took responsibility of the property however they are wanting us to put down a £450 desposit to have our gas meter reconnected.
Are they able to do this? They ahve said we would be able to get the money back when we switch suppliers but a £450 out going after buying a house is a little hefty!
Any advise or help would be much appreciated0 -
Switch away straight away. When they object then complain...and take the complaint further if it is not resolved. You do not have to pay anything to be a new customer and the first monthly payment certainly should not be that much.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I only hope there are genuine people out there, not the one's who joined at the beginning, who have actually received the dream life promised by Utility Warehouse, I'd love to see their balance sheets and how much money they actually make out of their distributors vs how much they pay back to to their distributors and then how much they make out of their customers. Would be a VERY interesting read.0

If you thought UW reps were over enthusiastic about promoting there services. Just wait to new network marketing kids on the block from the States Momentis start offering Energy some of there reps are already making outlandish statements before they start trading.
They apparently launch Energy Sept 2012 subject to Ofgem approval.0 -
Not right at all. (And puerile to rewrite a post, then requote it as if written by the original poster when you come here and post as a UW rep)
You forget it wasn't me who pointed out the card is risky, but the uw itself in its 12 page ts + cs for the card which start by warning of the risks, and warning anyone taking the card that if they start to use it, then they accept there are risks.
But anyone trying to use it (after loading it with their own money) will have been realising it has even more risks!
Why do reps like to try and dismiss the risks as being my invention, when the truth is far from it?
