Great response, perhaps typical of a UW rep I would like to add. Naturally assuming I failed would be typical of the brainwashed, ridiculous and unprofessional company I encountered......
Yes, that does seem the way uw reps are taught to deal with anyone critical of the organisation. We often see that kind of post here.
Another example which was aimed at me (even though I've never had any connection with uw!), but interesting to see who the author was then........ (though it seems for some, the brainwashing eventually wears off!!!):arteta1878 wrote:By the way, Quentin, if you didn't get enough customers to get your £200 back I can understand your frustrations. Hi,
I just wanted to tell you what UW has done for me in the past year, I don't mean to cause controversy or rile anyone any more than than they already are, But this time last year I had been made redundant from 18 hours worth of post leaving my with half my wages and lots of debt going out.
I was introduced by friends of mine and I was very skeptical to say the least, checked out the thread on here - I think the pages were on 76 as the last page. So I can say that I went into it thinking it wouldn't work, one year on I have 30 customers and building a small team. Something that I feel very proud off :-)
I have had a few niggley problems but nothing that hasn;t been sorted within 5 mins of me finding out from the customer. I have also just received an email from a happy customer who had 4 services, he said we are cheaper than others, my bill is better, and I am a tad anal when it comes to energy.
I had to do this business to helplessly grab at an opportunity which has helped my family out of a very hard year. The friends I have gained, the personal development and the self confidence after the year I have had has been fantastic.
I just wanted to say my story to you all, now I am paying off my mortgage and have savings, granted I still have debt but that's getting paid off. I now have made up my hours at work got a new job for better money but I don't believe I would have got there with out this business.
It works for me and my customers and if it's not for some then don't worry it doesn't matter. For me it does. I never pressurize anyone if I can't save them money then brill they are doing something right which excites me too, but I have saved in real terms a good friend of mine £500 per annum. and shes been a customer for a few months now over Christmas in no problems.
As for the arguments over the cash back I get on average £10 off per month going to £30 at Christmas and January bill, when I add that up over the year it's one month paid for.
Please don't feel you need to slag of my post but I have nothing to gain from writing this; I don't want to collect distributors or slag any one off, but just wanted to say thank you uw, you've given me than and monthly income - and that's what is important.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.0 -
A good message. As it paints UW in a positive light, you can expect to have it removed within the next 48 hours.
But, I read it at least, and I applaud you for taking action at a difficult time in your life, when others might just have rolled over. Well done.

Good for you pebbs!
I also reiterate Mepper's post - you will probably find that your positive UW post will be removed/deleted and you'll most likely get flamed as well for good measure! There are two long-term posters that are particularly anti-UW as I'm sure you've already seen if you've read even a small part of this thread.
Best of luck for yours and your family's future.'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

It works for me and my customers
As an aside, I went to a "best deal" with npower and boy is their customer service rubbish. Seven months and they still haven't got my direct debit sorted properly. I am locked in until July unlike the one month notice with Utility Warehouse. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

At the moment UW Low tariff is the 2nd cheapest variable one for me, i'm probably not an average user, so I think they'll be in the frame along with several others for my custom at switch time. Things might change again before July though. Most of the ones at the top of my list I have little experience of, so it's going to be leap of faith if I make the change (although I have no complaints with my current supplier, so they might keep my business in the end)0

What I have always said on here - if you are a low user then UW will generally be very competitive on price. And knowing what I now know about EDF (omg, shakes head) then I would be happy to pay a slight premium to get the UW service (note the main 2 who denigrate UW on here have never been customers). But as I have their phone/broadband/mobile service I would get free calls so not really any sort of premium at all in real terms. Plus you also get (accurate if you put in a meter reading) monthly billing at no extra cost. As soon as my EDF fix ends, unless something bad happens with regard to their pricing I will be bringing my gas over to UW. (Electric is not viable for me due to my high-ish useage).
PS I notice OVO are bucking the trend and increasing the prices on their variable rate.0 -
I think there was only about 30 quid difference a year for me between the cheapest variable one (FU) and the UW Low one. Not sure I would pick FU if I changed tho, i'll wait and see.0

Neither have we been UW salesmen or shareholders.
Isn't it strange how every other Utility company gets hammered - but UW always praised!
Of course you are apparently only allowed to criticise a company if you have been a customer.
Mind you MillicentBystander using the many names he posts under, might well have been a customer of every utility company.0 -
Is this the only place to discuss it (the UW service and others)? I'm really not interested in getting involved in other peoples arguments, I just want to know how the various companies who i'm not familiar with compare. That is First Utility, Coop, UW and Ovo.0
