Well yes , as UW themselves are quite astounded at your figure of £45...... since they themselves cannot find a way to get it as low (with the useage figurs) that you claim...0

... I would have had to spend some £3,000 per month to get "free" utilities. That was when the supermarket cash back rate was 5% and not 3% as it is now.....
As has already been said (to a uw rep) in this thread, "free" means for nothing! Not in exchange for your cashback!
If you got 5% cashback from Sainsbury and had spent £3000 there, you would have been getting £150 cashback off your shopping, only uw gullibles/busy fools see it as getting "free" utilities!
(But why did you buy expensive uw energy in the first place? It seems since you gave up being a rep the scales have fallen from your eyes??)0 -
The bottom line on your bill is, in fact, the bottom line. That's what you are being charged. Simples. If that involves use of a pre paid cashback card so be it. Perhaps Cardew and Quentin could share with the group how they maximise the return on their retail spend like Meeper does? You know, full details and such stuff....;) I mean, failure to do so would leave them both wide open to accusaations of hypocrisy and they wouldn't want that, would they?0

Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

An accusation of hypocrisy from someone like yourself who posts in support of UW using the names - MillicentBystander -1carminestocky - operastar - carespress - another etc, takes the biscuit.0 -
That was explained months ago by the use of the same cash back card that isn't linked to UW but is instead linked to some other organisation such as the Black prepaid debit card. The card is provided by the same company and offers exactly the same discounts. But then someone here said that is not a valid comparison as they did not know anyone working for the NHS or a public service employer even though they are the nations largest employers. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

actually theres more NHS employee`s than UW club members... so ergo the NHS have a larger product penetration with that discount card....0

So did you sign your 'good friends' up as some of your 12 customers? If you were that 'appalled' why would you do that? As most regulars on here know I switched my gas and electricity to EDF a few years ago, but one thing I will say I had excellent customer services every single time I called UW, and the phone was always answered very promptly - shame I can't say the same about EDF!!
You say it was a complete waste of time and effort - do you not believe people who are dedicated can make money and make it worth while?
I signed them up, then discovered the service was poor, as that is the only way you are guaranteed to get your initial investment back. I am sure you know that this is the way UW is set up! get the reps cash in and make them go out and promote otherwise they don't get their investment back.
Once I had seen first hand that they were not the company they perceived themselves to be in their incredibly flaky training sessions I decided it was not for me.
I am also with EDF, have been for 3 years and find their customer service to be second to none so I guess its all about your own personal experience.
With regards to your last question, I got the impression that the only people who are making money are the ones that are on the top of the food chain, and the ones that were there first. And like any sales job it is a complete numbers game, but with very little reward initially, and lots and lots of effort required to get you to even a reasonable return for your time and investment.
My original posts on here about them I agree were quite placid, and I was of the opinion that it's just not for everyone, but if it is for you then good luck to you.
Upon review though, I would strongly suggest looking into this either from a customer or rep point of view before signing into them for anything. I would certainly not recommend them to anyone, and the fact that they tell their reps not to talk about tariffs for me tells it's own story.0 -

I too have my gas and electricity with the terminally useless EDF but still have broadcall and 2 mobile sims with UW and I know who's CS I would recommend out of the 2 companies. And it wouldn't be the French owned shower, that's for sure.
)
Great response, perhaps typical of a UW rep I would like to add. Naturally assuming I failed would be typical of the brainwashed, ridiculous and unprofessional company I encountered.
For the record, I am self employed, have my own IT company but never adverse to making a few quid extra so gave it a shot.
If you are the type of person who wants to spend hours upon hours of pointless meetings convincing your friends that this fantastic company are the answer to all of lifes problems for £1 a month commission per customer then good for you.0
