Is this the only place to discuss it (the UW service and others)? I'm really not interested in getting involved in other peoples arguments, I just want to know how the various companies who i'm not familiar with compare. That is First Utility, Coop, UW and Ovo.

Well go to a comparison website like energyhelpline and enter your area and consumption and you will see the prices for all tariffs on offer in UK.

For instance take someone with UK average consumption of 16,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricity and based in my area(Midlands).

Energyhelpline lists 74 tariffs with the cheapest being Scottish Power at £1,022. The cheapest UW tariff(high User) is in 51st position and costs £1,182.

So UW is £160(15.66%) more expensive than the cheapest tariff.

TPTB have dictated that this is the only thread allowed for discussion about Utility Warehouse.

I would work out annual consumption and go to a comparison site to get ideas. Then using your own numbers work out the price for your consumption including any daily/weekly/monthly fees. UW has a standard monthly fee to be a member of the club don't forget. It's quite a bit of work but at least you'll come away with your own definitive answer. UW's unit prices are on their website.

What part of Mr Soft's 'I'm probably not an average user' didn't you understand?? He's already told you UW is one of HIS cheapest options, why can't YOU cope with that FACT?? Why is that so painful for you to take on board/accept? And I still see you don't use any sort of cashback card although you STILL see yourself as some sort of money saving expert. Tut tut. 'Do as I say, not as I do', eh?

Cue the usual diversionary reply. ;)

Thanks Cardew, but have done all that, what i'm looking for is qualitative stuff really, the price is the easy bit.

Biased - a UW salesman biased? Who would ever think such a thing!

'Award winning' customer service? - what prestigious award would that be?

According to Energyhelpline(Martin's recommended comparison website) only EDF have a lower rating for 'Service'.

Repeated assertion(by UW salesmen!) ain't proof.

I wonder if Meeper is as "Independant" with his financial advice as he is "Independant" with his utility advice?
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
  • I'm having a problem with utility warehouse which has been ongoing since July last year. Long story short it looks as tho they will be charging me around £1300 for 'court' costs, even tho i paid my bill. I have no clue what to do, I'm trying to switch but of course i am in debt to them so they will not let me. looks as tho they are now trying to cut me off for non payment of around £900 of charges (for the paid bill) they would not let me pay a month before but a smaller amount, nor set up a payment plan for the bill, told they wanted it in full so called before we went into court and they accepted the lower amount and time to clear the rest. Not told i would still acrue court charges! We didn't even go in. The uw rep said himself he would be laughed out of court if he went in and i said i had a £400 bill and wanted to pay £350!!!

They have screwed us over big time.

Sorry this is not coming across as best as I am capable! I just don't know what to do.

i'm on disability benefits, we have two young children my partner on jsa and cares for me. We cannot afford these unreasonable charges. Nobody even had to do anything! And so unfair that what I'd tried to do previously, they finally let me but on the day. feel like they stalled for time to make the most out of me. Treated like a mug.

I advise anyone thinking of switching to get out, or indeed anyone with them to switch before you get into such a situation. and it will happen - they strike you with a massive bill you can't pay. we'd been with them 2 years without a hitch then that's what happened. BOOM £400 bill in july!

don't know whether to start a new post. new here but thought i saw mention of all uw topics to be posted on this thread...

    thank you for reading.

PS - no I do not work for Utility Warehouse.
