'Just to confuse the customer I think'

How dare you insinuate that UW would stoop to such a tactic.

Are you surprised that Meeper wasn't aware....... period!
    I am surprised.

I'm also suprised the fixed rate has never been mentioned here in defence of UW. It's one of the longest fixed rates on the market.

EDF price protection June 2014 £1,188
    Utility Warehouse August 2014 £1,188
    ScottishPower Fixed Price 2015 (Dec 2014) £1,195
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

    Why are you surprised?

Even the multi-named poster, as well as UW reps, castigate other firms for 'locking in' customers to fixed rate tariffs.

It's going to be soooo dead on here when the rest of the Big 6 follow BGs lead and decide they aren't going to rip off long standing, loyal (and, I believe Mr Phil Bentley also described them as 'honest') customers to fund their acquisition of rate tarts and fly by nights by offering 'loss leading', short-lived tariffs. If BG's example is replicated we will be talking a circa 3% difference between the Big 6s (honest, fair and long term) cheapest deal and UWs based on average consumption. Peanuts considering you can get free calls with UWs gas/electric deals. I actually believe Cardew is going to have to find himself another hobby. :p Quentin will be fine because he doesn't major on price, of course (he majors on moaning about stuff he's clearly had no joy from the ASA with). But I do expect to see a link to those Spanish teachers in virtually every one of his posts :p. Who knows, he may even become an active distributor again (taps nose). I do find it quite amusing that as soon as one of the Big 6 decides to take the 'honest and transparent' route with regards to their tariffs their prices are almost the same as UWs. Plus of course they are finally adopting the approach that UW have always used. And there are those on here who criticise UW for a lack of transparency. Oooh, the delicious irony.

Ahhh yes but this has no cancellation fees so technically they should be shouting about this one for the last few months since it was released and not even one mention. That's why I am surprised.

Then why, when UW launch a product that is unquestionably the cheapest of its kind on the market (the SIM only mobile deals).

Tesco Mobile Offering 500 minutes and 5000 texts sim only deal for £10.

3 month contract instead of UW 1 month,5000 texts not unlimited but no restriction on the number of numbers you can text to ,and on length of call as far as i can see.

Good find....it's a 3 month contract though the 1 month contract is £12.50.

Personally speaking, I didn't mention anything about it because I wondered whether any of the naysayers on here would bother doing the proper research and finding it for themselves. If I say it, it's not true. If I wait for one of your guys to say it, it's true in your eyes, so that's the general plan.

And as far as my previous statement that I hadn't had that experience with the fixed tariff, what I was trying to convey was that for the customers I have seen since the fixed tariff came out, the fixed tariff was not cheaper, as you attempted to point out.

I wonder why billsavings didn't quote this deal, being as it's a much more direct comparison. :p So, UWs guarantee stands firm on the mobile SIM Only deals! :D Tesco's comparable deal to UWs unlimited calls/texts deal is actually £27.50 as opposed to UWs £20. Like I have said, Cardew and Quentin's total refusal to discuss these SIM only deals tells me they are unbeatable in the marketplace! Even more so when you realise that, should you have also the UW phone line, taking out one of these sim deals out gives you free/inclusive calls as well.

I'm trying to point out the fixed rate is cheaper than UW's standard rates and you should be recommending your customers switch to that tariff. UW's confusing pricing structure means that it is only really suited to low users and now this tariff means that UW can be reasonably competitive if a customer fits into a profile that uses only a certain amount of electricity (not too little and not too much) and does use at least a small amount of gas but not too much.

UW is not competitive on electricity at all at any usage level but can be on gas on certain low usage levels. Unless you have a combination that beats my research.

UKPower considers a flat or a small house to use 11,000kWh of gas and 2,100kWh of electricity. There are better deals than UW but EDF is only fixed for a year then switches to EDF's standard plan saving £92 over 3 years if rates remain the same. Npower savings over 3 years is £33. All other tariffs require annual switching to save.. Why not mention it? Strange.....

If I put in what UKPower consider to be a high user 23,000kWh and 5,100kWh then UW isn't worth considering at all there are 96 better tariffs.

Yes, still looking. There has been quite a few cheap deals come onto the market lately I'm sure there'll be a SIM only 1 month deal soon enough.

I know what you're trying to point out. What I'm trying to point out is that your asserting has not been my experience. I have found the fixed price tariff to be more expensive than the standard for the specific customer situations that I have seen.

Could you provide the links to where you are getting your numbers?
