Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

Do you think when you called up and ordered whatever gas, electricity or telephony service you use that the adviser to whom you spoke didn't get any commission? In the event that you keyed it online and there was no human interaction - congratulations! You have avoided a commission to a salesperson. Instead, you've added the commission that would have been paid to the salesperson to the company's bottom line. Well done - you have achieved nothing.
Why should I mention any other deals? Could you imagine going into a bank and hear the guy behind the desk saying "here's our insurance product, but don't buy that - go down the street to our competitor and buy theirs because it's cheaper". Do you live in the real world?
Every single product you buy or service you take from a company involves someone making money.
In this instance, the couple have been provided with a saving, as well as outstanding UK-based customer service. I went to present the services to them. I found that there was no saving for them on the gas and electricity therefore didn't pursue the matter but there was a saving of around 25% on their telephony. What is this package that is £7.75 per month cheaper that you have "found"? What package have they taken with UW? How can you compare what they have without knowing what they took?
Really - I applaud that you have the moral high ground in refusing to work for a company in a sales-based job. Good for you. Sales make the world go around though I'm afraid fella, so remember that the next time you are buying something, you are being sold it, and you just earned someone some commission, bonus or promotion.
I despair, I really do. Some people live in such cuckoo land. "You should have told them about every other providers' products that were cheaper than the ones from the company which you represent"!! Amazing. Such business acumen!I am an Independent Financial AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as an Independent Financial Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I would check myself before visiting that dealer. And i would always try to get the price down to get more money for myself.
And how can you be sure your company offer the very best rates to the companies they deliver for? Have you looked into it? And do your company's salespeople make it their duty to tell prospective clients of other delivery companies that offer more competitive rates?
Sorry i should clarify that i work for a takeaway. Customers come to the company i work for, for a product. My boss doesnt approach people saying they are the cheapest etc
I'm sure you know where I'm going with this. You are basically asking Meeper to do what no other company representative would ever do. So I'm not sure what your motivation for doing so really is, apart from creating controversy. Or maybe you haven't really thought this through enough before posting...
I asked Meeper the question as a tongue in cheek remark, in response to the confidence Meeper put in their saying have saved the customer money. If Meeper was really interested in saving money for the customer, did they say 'this is our product but feel free to look for cheaper deals first as we arent the cheapest'. Im sure they didnt as all sales persons are out to get commission and saying this would have lost them this commission.0 -

Please, do tell me which other deal they could have gotten which was the same as the one that they signed up for (which you have no idea about) for £7.75 per month cheaper?I am an Independent Financial AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as an Independent Financial Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Just passing by and noticed the individual hasn't replied to you now. Perhaps he's realised how silly he was. Even the favourite muppets on here haven't come to his aid.
Good to see you've managed to save them money Meeper. I've just signed up for the fixed energy tariffs so that puts my mind at ease for a few years. One thing I was surprised at. Apparently if I decide the fixed tariff isn't for me then I can go back to my old system without penalty. I can't see BG allowing that.0 -
I've just been invited to become a utility warehouse customer, good job I came accross this thread.
I don't think I'll bother.
You best not read any threads on here if you actually want gas/elec in your home!! I note EDF have taken a right pasting on here recently. If cheapest is what you want, get your consumption info and pick the cheapest tariff using a comparision web-site. This is what I did and got EDF, luckily they have been great for me, no problems, but for many they have been a nightmare and I'm sure some wished they had placed more importance on not only price, but customer service as well.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Welcome to the forum.
As the subject raises strong feelings and we get lots of the 30,000+ UW [STRIKE]salesmen[/STRIKE] 'Independant Distributors attempting to spam, we are not allowed to discuss UW other than in the designated thread.

As you will see if you have the time and energy to plough through the UW thread, Cardew is very anti UW and there are only a very tiny miniscule number of UW distributors who can be bothered to argue the toss with him, and one other person who also is very anti UW. No idea why, as neither of them have ever been customers or distributors, (or so they claim). How they can have such an opnion on something that they have no experience of is beyond me but hey!
UW don't supply TV yet.
Pointless asking on here as the only people who will be bothered to respond are the anti brigade. Do your own research and make your own mind up.

Utility Warehouse brings out alot of strong opinions for alot of people - im sure for some on standard gas / electric tarrifs (and phone and internet as they are part of the package) etc then it could be of benefit - but , in my opinion , nothing beats doing your own research with your annual energy figures to find whats the best value for you.0
