    And, predictably, my UW mobile pictorial example has been taken down by MSE. As they state that the forums aren't actively moderated, I can only assume it was reported. Cardew and Quentin, what are you so scared about? Actually having to admit that UW's mobile SIM only deals are the cheapest in the UK I suspect.

    £10/mth (£11.50 for new customers). SIM ONLY, 500 x-net /landline minutes and truly unlimited texts (as long as you don't text to more than 100 different mobile numbers)

    £15/mth (£16.50 for new customers) SIM ONLY, 800 x-net /landline minutes and truly unlimited texts (as long as you don't text to more than 100 different mobile numbers)

    £20/mth (£21.50 for new customers) SIM ONLY, unlimited x-net /landline minutes (3000 FUP) and truly unlimited texts (as long as you don't text to more than 100 different mobile numbers)

    30 day rolling contract.

    Add UWs £19.99 broadcall to the £10/mth SIM, for instance, and for £32.94/mth you get:

    * Phone Line Rental
    * Up to 24mb broadband
    * 40GB download allowance
    * Fully inclusive (free) evening and weekend calls to 01, 02, 03, 0870 and top International destinations
    * 24/7 free calls to other UW homephone users
    * £1 of daytime call allowance
    * 500 cross network mobile/landline calls
    * Truly unlimited texts (subject to the FUP shown earlier)
    * 30 day rolling contract on the mobile SIM deal
    * No minimum contract commitment on the broadcall (subject to £10 admin fee if you leave)
    * Guaranteed UK call centre
    * Option to take UWs cash back card which can significantly reduce your monthly bill dependent on your shopping patterns

    I think it's a great deal, personally ( and so do Cardew and Quentin, clearly!)

  • Hi all, I've recently been approached to become a distributor. I've so far read 31 pages of this forum and at the moment am against the idea of becoming a distributor. However I have an open mind and am currently weighing up the pros and cons. I've done a bit of research on their gas and electricity prices using my own annual consumption which is as follows:

    Electricity: 3000KWH
    Gas: 24,000KWH

    I did a comparison on Uswitch and the prices including VAT are as follows:

    UW £1260.82

    EDF £1036.65

    Difference: £224.17

    So the case for the prosecution is still holding sway.

    When I started, I looked at uSwitch also, but the figures that it gave for UW price was incorrect. You would be better off looking at the prices and doing a manual calculation basedon the figures on the uwdc website.

    That aside, the prices for gas and electricity are only a small part of the overall package and proposition. Don't judge the whole involvement of being a distributor or indeed a customer on the paper tariffs alone, as there is a lot more to it than that.

    Find out more (away from the poison on this forum) elsewhere and don't let the dream-stealing naysayers on here put you off.

    Feel free to PM me if you would like an honest account of how I have found it. Hopefully you will see from my posts here that I talk about the good points and the bad and can give an objective viewpoint. I agree with some parts, don't agree with some others, but it works well for me as both a customer and a distributor. It's a business that everyone can do, but it's not for everyone.

    I used the Tariff Guide left by the Distributor trying to recruit me. I also used the High User rates which are the lowest rates available. My current objection to signing up is that I would feel bad about signing up friends and family to a UW gas and electricity deal when I know I could have given them a better deal just by showing them how to use the comparison websites. If I signed them over to UW I would feel like I had taken advantage of them.

    Again you come here and break the rules.

    Not even UW reps with mortgage advisor status are allowed to come here and use the pm system to recruit/tout for business/get contact details etc. like you are attempting.

    Madmick already found the energy to be more than 20% more expensive than EDF, and you trot out the uw mantra of "don't trust the independent comparison sites", use the uw one!

    But when you use the uw price comparisons, (complete with a misleading and completely false claim that we are "guaranteed savings"), you just get given the fantasy calculator which seems fixed! And certainly doesn't mention the monthly membership fees all uw customers have to pay on top of their bills.

    It shows me I'll save over £1000! Just a fantasy, and magically shows I'll save £170 on energy, when the comparison sites all show it would cost me £450 to switch to uw!

    Take a look at how the reps are trained on how to use the uw presentation to get a gullible to sign up as a new rep.

    They have cleverly designed their presentation so that (they reckon) a prospect gets taken down a pathway where they are bound to say yes to the "dream":

    That is exactly the point the 'anti-UW' faction have been making.

    Mind you any sensible UW salesman, who knows anything about gas and electricity prices, would not dream of having his own gas and electricity from UW.;)

    I would imagine (with hard work) you could make a decent-ish part time income just selling the broadcall/homephone and SIM only deals (the ones that Cardew and Quentin agree are the cheapest on the market :p). The price for these, especially in conjunction and comparing like with like, is fantastic even without using the cash back card. Add that into the mix and it can be a no-brainer for the punter.

    Edit: Forgot to say, Cardew, we've missed you in the Eon Exit Fees thread. Not like you to not help people on here with your knowledge and experience. I can't quite understand your absence on there....you are an Eon customer, aren't you?

    Dear Quentin,

    I have tried to send this message via PM, however your Inbox is full therefore I could not send.

    Whilst you may not like Utility Warehouse (that's the impression I get anyway...) and you may well not like me (although you don't know me at all), I would politely ask that you refrain from stalking my posts in the Mortgages and Endowments section and making disparaging remarks. It is clear that you have only gone to that forum in order to attack me and you are not interested whatsoever in discussing the matters at hand or offering any assistance to the individuals who post there with real problems and concerns, some of which include potentially losing their house or whether they are able to get onto the property ladder in complicated financial scenarios.

    To use that forum as a means to attack me and discredit anything that I say is pretty poor and absolutely lacking in decorum and class. In my profession I am among the most respected advisers in the country. I write in the national press for mortgage advisers and my opinion is sought on mortgage-related matters from all corners of the country.

    I have complained to the MSE team in the strongest terms about your conduct, and I am hopeful that sanctions are brought against your reckless behaviour which turns a thread in which someone is seeking assistance into one for petty bickering and airing of personal grievances. You should, quite frankly, be ashamed of your conduct.

    You may now write whatever you wish, you will no longer get any response from me as it is clear that you have no interest in debating the merits of an issue, merely to attack anyone who has a viewpoint that is contrary to your own.

    Yours sincerely,

    Meeper.
