Please explain the risks of the card, as you are so fond of calling it "risky". HINT: Linking the disclaimer warning is not satisfactory - if you want to call it risky, please show that you understand exactly what the risks are and their implications.

As previously posted, it's not me who says the card is risky, it's the uw itself.

And as far as asking me to show I understand the risks, remember we all recall you telling us that putting our money in a bank carried the same risks!

But that was before you announced you are now a professional in the financial world of mortgages - maybe you have picked up some info about the safety of putting your money in a bank compared with putting it on a uw card!

You are being a busy fool by buying expensive uw utilities. Then thinking you are getting them reduced by using the risky card and shopping at the uw partner shops to gain "cashback" which is taken by the uw towards paying your bill.
Ah, the misunderstanding here is that you obviously don't understand the term busy fool. Being a busy fool would mean that I was taking actions and doing lots of stuff that is pointless. As I point out over and over again, I am not doing anything out of the ordinary in using the Cashback Card and shopping in the partner stores, so the term "busy fool" does not apply as I am not doing anything that I didn't do prior to joining UWDC.
Instead of buying your utilities cheaper elsewhere, then any discounts/cashback etc you can get off your shopping is yours to spend how you like.
Super. Please illustrate to me which other discount cards etc would be a good idea for me to use instead.
You previously gave us your figures, which showed you deliberately spending £370 more than you need to buying uw expensive energy. Then spending £1000s on your risky card to get the "cashback" towards first clearing the £370, then paying off part of your bill.

You refuse to see this as busy fool behaviour, when others have spotted the flaw - you could be saving the £370 by buying the energy elsewhere and have all your discount in your own bank!
Nothing "busy fool"-ish about it. Please illustrate which provider would be better for me and which discount card I should use, specifically.

If I made some extremely large purchases, my bill could be zero. Bill amount = cashback amount. Or, I could be a busy fool and still pay the bill, get a different amount of cashback from a different card, perhaps one that sends risky vouchers through the risky mail, shop in stores that I don't normally shop in..........you get the picture. Who's a busy fool now? All of my utilities (except water) are on one bill, so only one direct debit. Simpler than before. Less money is going out of my bank than was the case previously. Much better. There is only one person who looks like a fool here sir.

Would you care to answer the question? What are the risks involved with the card, exactly?
But that was before you announced you are now a professional in the financial world of mortgages - maybe you have picked up some info about the safety of putting your money in a bank compared with putting it on a uw card!
I didn't "announce" anything. I put the information in my signature as I started posting in the Mortgages and Endowments section of this forum, as per the forum rules. Sticking to the T&C's of a website that you use is a good idea, I find, and one that perhaps you should take on board.

Before slinging these stones from your glass house, remember it is you that have had to edit a number of your posts here following your rule breaking being pointed out to you, (which included openly touting for uw business here), as well as had a number of your abusive posts deleted!

PS, Meeper is a UW 'salesman' and posted a link to the Which survey the day it appeared online so yet another Plushchris temper-induced accusation shot down in flames.

Oh Carmine, you do make me laugh! I think you are over estimating how much I actually care about whats wrote on here.. temper?? really???? :rotfl:

What exactly was the accusation that was supposedly "temper induced"? That the UW salesmen would keep quiet about it? I think you will find that I followed that up with "they probably wont"

Meeper then kindly posted and proved me right..
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
  • I never mention the Which survey, it'd be like selling a TV series on the back of a National TV Award - it doesn't mean quality just cos it's had votes. I would however promote things like "Which recommended" (IE they've done an article, not a survey) like they did when they made UW the "Best buy broadband and home phone bundle".

Thanks Quentin and Cardew for ignoring all my points last time I was here, bless you both, and still not one single post countering my points about business customers?

Now, now, you mustn't call him Carmine, or 1Carminestocky, or Operastar or Carespress or any other identity.

    It causes upset.

This guy is quite happy to mislead over the which? survey, as well as happily telling us other astonishingly misleading claims:

"Guaranteed savings" on all of your food/petrol/clothes/gas/electricity

The spin over Which? seems to be the opening gambit to gain "credibility" for the uw. And why would anyone expect their friend to blatantly lie like this. (All in the first couple of minutes of the presentation, when apart from the guaranteed savings, the gullibles are told that Which? is "completely third party" and has said for 3 years in a row that uw is the nation's no 1 provider for all utilities!

Then the presentation continues to overstate the "cashback" paid as we have seen that uw does on its website - claiming £25 back for spending £500 on food and petrol - though there can be no "excuse" it just hasn't been updated!

This is brand new, and includes mention of both supermarkets in its false and misleading advertising.

But the friend won't pull the rep up over this spin - the reps wouldn't deliberately mislead a friend would they??

    d) Please confirm why the ASA would ignore our blatent "spin" and dishonesty if it were the case? I assume you have reported our disgraceful tactics to them.....?

When you ask that question you show your ignorance of the ASA's jurisdiction.

For years the uw has been able to get away with false/misleading/dishonest advertising on its website because (up till now) the ASA hasn't looked at internet advertising.

But their number looks to be up!

From next month the ASA will police internet advertising - so uw have a fortnight to clean out all the dishonest comparisons and false claims pointed out on their website:

Indeed, the ASA is about to start regulating websites. Which is exactly why I assumed you had already reported UWDC's "dishonest" website to them..... You have been in touch with them, right?

All of this nonsense is irrelevant. It is absolutely clear over the last couple of pages that you and your friends have no substance and nothing to say other than "UW are dishonest and just use spin". Anyone reading these pages can't fail to recognise it, and the more you post, the more desperate you look.
