yes the civil service do in fact employ a large number of staff and this card is available in that format.
I'm not here to promote the alternative card ( hence my prefereence not to post info) - just like UW should not be here to promote the UW card -
I orginally posted to say there is an alternative, so should be taken out of the equation when looking at utilitiesAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

From the Daily Telegraph.<H1>Energy tariffs: the hall of shame
Here are some of the most expensive energy deals.
Guess which company figures!!0 -
For low-ish users who do not have 'net access, UW have just about the lowest Gas and electricity prices in the UK.
You've obviously checked, hence your total refusal to even acknowledge what you would normally view as a post too provocative to leave alone. Soooo predictable. There's not even any use of the cash back card included in this statement.0 -
Can you prove that statement please Milli?0

That's wrong Milli. The average for low users according to OFGEM is more than that.0

I've checked 4 different random addresses in the UK, based on OFGEM's average usage figures for low users of 11,000kWh for Gas and 2100kWh for Electric. These addresses are in the Midlands, Northern, SWEB and Eastern regions. The UW figures were calculated from their website, the rest from a uSwitch comparison where users would pay on receipt of the bill.
Do UW have the lowest costs for non-internet low users? No. Do they have just about the lowest prices? Depends how you try and justify the words "just about".
My non-scientific survey revealed EDF Energy came out cheapest for 3 of the 4 locations, and Atlantic for the 4th. It revealed UW was second cheapest in one region, 4th in 2 others and 3rd in the other. It was beaten by Atlantic in 3 of the 4 locations and EDF in all four.
So therefore I'd say UW is NOT the cheapest for low users who have no internet access and is not just about the cheapest, but is one of the cheaper companies, beating 5 of the big 6. EDF Energy are the cheapest for low users, Atlantic the second cheapest, UW the third.0 -

I was basing that on Cardew's oft-repeated statement. Check it out. He uses the very same 2 words. In his own Midlands area based on average Ofgem figures (16500 gas 3300 electric) there are over 20 tariffs more expensive than UWs. There you go.
PS EDF have yet to raise their prices (coming end of March).0 -

I put these figures through for my postcode and UW do come out favourably, clearly they can be a good choice for lowish users, of which there must be plenty at the moment with people trying to cut back on heating etc. Plus there is no contract to tie you in, so as soon as you find a better deal, you can be on your merry way with no exit fees.
I hope EDF don't raise there prices to much, I suppose the end of March isn't to bad, my heating is generally turned off from April onwards!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:
