you talk absolute b*ll*cks. if you were a cat i'd have you put down. There's 1 fundimental flaw in your pointless idea. For call centre staff to be sales motivated they have to work in a sales environment and the majority of call centres aren't sales orientated. Sales people make OUTBOUND calls to get the sales and therefore get their commission.
Also call centre staff can't always transfer calls because they don't have the numbers to. I work in IT for a call centre and i know that the people in our call centre deal with calls presented to them and don't know numbers of other departments. If they did then they'd transfer to the internal number and not the 0870 number..
saynoto8070 isn't a great site to be honest. it gives you a number to the company but not the geographical number to what the 0870 number points to.0 -

https://www.saynoto0870.com is an excellent site,it has enabled other and I to wreak revenge upon companies that profit from incoming calls, and is supported by Martin
Suggest you visit the site before forming incorrect assumptionsTo be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -
which incorrect assumption? 0870 doesn't actually give you the geographical number for the 0870 number a geographical number for the company you called regardless of the department.
with regards to answering what you quoted me on i'll wait till you have a grasp of the English language and translate what you said into something that makes sense.
You're just proving my point that you're whining about something you clearly know nothing about.0 -

You are SO right.
I think the problem for sales staff is this: When on inbound sales (such as order lines etc), the agent is usually targeted on "conversion rates" i.e. how many sales per call. (as well as handling time etc...)
The problem with sites such as saynoto0870 (which as a consumer, I applaud) is that people call the WRONG number - more often than not the freefone 0800 number or geo equivalent simply to save money.
That's fine in as far as saving 8p per min or whatever, but I feel that the majority of punters don't realise that by going through to the wrong department, they are directly impacting on a persons income. Furthermore, as has already been mentioned, not every company has departments which talk to each other - so you end up getting nowhere by using what essentially is the WRONG number for the department you need to speak to.
Don't get me wrong, I despise the use of 0870 numbers, call centres and what they represent, but I do feel sorry for the folk who feel they need to work there. I know, i've been there myself.
In a perfect world, we would never have to call these numbers in the first place, and I do feel that as jobs go, you can't really go any lower than being a call centre agent. It's stressful, poorly paid, and you get treated like a child (if you are lucky).
Bravo to those who work in a call centre and disagree with my observations - you're doing something that I could not - but I think the sooner we see the back of them, the better the company/customer relationship will be.The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.

I have very mixed feelings about the site saynoto0870. I want my products to be as cheap as possible and therefore am willing to pay a bit extra for additional services. I therefore agree with the use of 0870 numbers for support but begrudge sales and payment lines that are 0870.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
