I used Freecycle fairly successfully to clear out a flat last year, this thread reminded me of one problem I did have - really pushy people wanting my stuff!

I posted quite a few things in a short space of time and tended to go with the person who could come soonest (edit: not the first person to reply), unless I got bad vibes from the first one. I considered this to be reasonably fair.

There was one person who replied to every single post, but couldn't collect until next week. After the third apology from me, she started accusing me of being biased and unfair because I wasn't giving her all my stuff..! Really got quite abusive.

(I did wonder what possible use she could have for a large table, a broken coffee machine given away for parts, a box of beads, travel-size hair straighteners and an old suitcase. Modern art project?)

Talking of ones that you wonder why the mods let them through this one near me:

"Hi, I would like an iPad Air, it must be 128 gig and mint condition.or don't reply.
    Thanks"

Seriously mods - get your act together.

Oh yes and that was the fourth time this person has posted this want.

Wonder if I could post a want for a Bugatti Veyron

Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying

I've used Freecycle quite a few times, for myself, my daughter, and for Rainbows, Brownies and Guides. I've also offered items from myself and my daughter. Posts that ask for Ipads, Kindles, smartphones, etc really annoy me. The only thing I have ever requested (and I didn't receive a single reply) was for windchimes or other sensory items. On the other hand, I have received some great stuff from Freecycle, including a cot in excellent condition (my daughter bought a new mattress for her baby though), various craft items for my Guiding groups, cupboard for Guiding, and a Poang chair and footstool.

I also received a large bar of Galaxy from a lovely lady who took my old kitchen table off my hands a couple of weeks ago :)

Wanted ad earlier this week asking for a "set of waits"

Was very tempted to tell them to try going to the post office.

Just this minute a wanted ad for 'funeral reefs' has hit my inbox from a Facebook group...

I think my laptop will require a funeral "reef" if the amount of coffee that I've just splattered all over it, is anything to go by!

I love to hate freecycle and have totally given up on it.

People asking for snooker tables, flatscreen TVs, computers and high end mobile phones just boiled my blood, I wish they would put a block list on the site.
I copying the usernames of the idiots and ignoring their inevitable emails after my items.

The best one was someone we call "mirror guy", we offered two mirrors, (if I remember rightly both very cheap I brought when I first house.)

Mirror guy was third in line and couldn't collect for two weeks! I explained that these needed to go, so first come first serve.

Suddenly he wanted to come round now, and was very pushy. Telling him that collection was already arranged did nothing to stop him.
He emailed me 5 times over two days asking when he could collect (despite a collection post.)

He terrorised the board for two full weeks posting daily for mirrors, any mirrors.
Still today I cannot fathom why anyone would be so desperate for mirrors
