Hi just thought i would check in, saw things havent been too great recently but i think its good you have a plan and everything will work out, as far as the debt goes we all wnat rid of it asap but if were not increasing it were still doing something positive IMO. I know things can be ten times more stressfull when pregnant as well though so goon on you for staying so positive. As far as christenings go i think rules vary from church to chirch, we had a really laid back one and all they insisted was that we went to one rehearsal and that godparents had been christened themselves, although they asked for no proof. No mention of ages at all so i dont see why you wouldnt be able to have a 14 year old. They didnt ask us how many we were having or the sex or anything. I know its traditional that boys have two godfathers and one godmother and vice versa but my DS has two godmothers and one godfather who is his grandad, tbh wish id just asked my sister and not bothered having friends cos only a year later they cant be ar**d to come see him!!0

Hey D2BDF - it's been a while since I've seen you around here. Hope everything is going okay with the job situation? How are things otherwise?Determined_2b_Debt_Free wrote: »
I was quite gutted that she turned down the Godparent role. I would absolutely LOVE to be asked to be Godparent and never have, I just wouldn't consider turning down the offer because of this and I wouldn't have thought anyone else would either but I suppose everyone's different.
I'm a godparent to 4 children now, all within the family. As nice as it is being asked, as I'm apparently the stable one to rely on, it's costing me more than I'd hoped with gifts and donations to the childrens trust funds. Do you know your friends situation? Maybe something has come up and she feel's she wouldn't be doing the best job she could?
Hope to see you around soon

Hi Adam & Olipops Mum  thanks for dropping by. Haven't been on here as much recently partly because the weather has been so nice and partly because I just haven't had much to update on the debt busting unfortunately. OH has been busy sorting out stuff around the house so hasn't really made an inroads for the business yet but has still been applying for jobs anyway - in the hope something amazing will come up
Think we're going to take a mortgage break which we didn't really want to do but hopefully it will just give us some breathing space, time to enjoy the baby and get OH on track with some kind of regular earnings again - however that may look.
Feels good that we are pretty much ready for the baby to come now which there is no way we would have been had OH still been working (As I'm still working too - from home) but I'm really getting irritated that I can't do anything with the debt at the moment, I hadn't realised quite how much I'd got into debt busting and I find it disappointing I can't join in with all of you guys for a little healthy overpayment competition too! I might do the snowball calculator again with the standard payments to see when my true DFD is going to be - I know that will be depressing but probably needed.
At least with us both being at home we're not really spending much, doing meal plans, a mystery shop here and there and keeping a track of the bank online.
Re the Godparent thing I think it was because she didn't feel religious enough, I did explain that for us it's more about just being there for guidance and support and have also made it really clear it's not about pressies or cards either - so hopefully that's not an issue.
I hope you're all doing well and I'll pop into your diaries soon x

Good to see you back around here
even with no debt busting update. £17k over 4 years is still a good rate of clearance, but I'm sure over time when your working situations settle down you'll be back to debt busting and bring that date right back down

Thanks - I'll definitely try and keep popping on here - it's good for the support and I know I'm not the only one who's struggling atm, I do definitely hope to clear it before then as that feels like so far away - my unborn baby will be almost going to school by then!

EDD is 1st Aug!!! :j Pleased you're loving your nappies, I know what you mean about all the pretty ones, I often have a little browse on Ebay to see what's about. I could do with a couple more wraps but I'm holding off til I try them out in case I don't get on with a particular type.
Thank you - I definitely hope so, I hate it so much. I think I would be more comfortable if it was under £10k - but then I'd want it under £5k so I know I'll only be happy when it's all gone...
I'll let you know when I start using the nappies - I keep going into the nursery and looking at themMe, DH and DD (17 months) clearing our debt for a better future. Not really that much to update but I have finished work (Fri just gone) so I have a bit of time off now whilst I wait for my bubs to put in an appearance. Unfortunately the car has suddenly gone wrong again so I'm hoping I won't go into labour before that gets fixed
OH has got loads done around the house but has had a few stumbling points with the business and hasn't done much towards it because of that. He has been applying for lots of jobs and has had a few more interviews and another this week. Not really sure what will happen but we have got our mortgage break which is a big relief as we want to be able to enjoy the baby without having to worry about money for the time being.
Paid my mum this month and when my loan payment goes out in a week or so, the debt will go under £17k which is a good motivator.
Not sleeping so good as I'm a bit uncomfortable but now I don't have to go to work I'm not so bothered about it. I just can't wait to meet my LO now!
Hope everyone is good and enjoying the summer :beer:Me, DH and DD (17 months) clearing our debt for a better future.
