Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Saturday 15th May.It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning
Woke up a bit early for a Saturday, but nothing out of the ordinary. It's sunny and dry, so I hope to finish my tunnel off today as well as go out somewhere perhaps.
It rained most of yesterday and I had a frustrating time trying to find items I needed to buy. Oil for the outboard, anti weed matting for the tunnel, rubber window strip for the boat, etc. All wrong sizes or out of stock etc.... Looks like the internet it is..
I did find cheap meat again at the factory shop place. BBQ packs 10 for £5, so if you take all the boneless lamb off the skewers you get almost 5lbs of lamb for curry or casserole and beef chunks too, so did well really.. Anyone got a good Rogan Josh recipe?
Had a good evening over at a friends house, perhaps drank a bit too much red, but nothing a coffee won't fix in a moment or 2.
Well folks, have a good day... Cheers

Thanks for doing this - we posted the same thing at the same time! Have tried to delete mine, but not sure I've been successful, please feel free to delete if you can. Lots of cooking, washing and gardening here today. BM on, cakes cooked, dishwasher emptied and WM on 2nd load!. Then I can battle with the garden.
Anyone heard from Diva? Lots of hugs to everyone. xxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
I think yours was earlier than mine, but anyway. I think only you can delete it.. Have not heard from Diva in a while, I guess some of the med issues have made themselves known.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

Morning everyone.
DS has been up since silly o'clock  Had a late night so feel shattered. Left H in bed for a lie in, I shall head back to bedville this afternoon.
Today's plans.....not very interesting. DS wants to go to the park, I need to pop to Mr S and fit in some cleaning. Other than that not a fat lot. Didn't do my cous cous last night - H had been pigging out on sandwiches late yesterday from a cancelled meeting at work so he wasn't hungry. So that will be tea for tonight anyway.
Diva - hope you're feeling OK x
Pen-pin - Hope you're OK too x
We were supposed to have rain yesterday but not a drop in sight. Clear blue sky and gorgeous sunshine at the mo

Morning all!
Gorgeous day up here in Bonnie Scotland, it was equally as bonnie at 4am when I took the Swiss contingent to the airport! So needless to say I am a bit sleepy. We had a visit from the tooth fairy last night, I am excited to see how much she brought when DS2 gets up!
Daddy is gone now, I waved him off about an hour ago, and am feeling quite low, I even had a wee cry.
He woke the boys for a cuddle before he went, but never got them up.
I'll be keeping busy today. The garden needs seeing to, I think I'll cut the grass, and then feed it, as the sun and some food will do it the world of good. I got a couple of hanging baskets from Aldi yesterday and OH put the brackets up for me last night. I fancy just putting loads of fuschia in and nothing else, they are on a south facing wall, do you think that would look/be OK? I also need to bake bread, I think I'll do some pitta for the freezer for work too, and make some stuff for the freezer. Not sure what yet. I got some good bargains in Sainbury's yesterday Frozen Quorn lasagne for 31p each, and Quorn Shepherd Spy for 50p each. The lasagne will do me 2 dinners or lunches for work, and the shepherd spy probably will too, they are also quite lo calorie, so that will help with the poundage loss. Not OS I know, but I am the only one who likes these things, so it is economial, and you couldn't make them for that. (I got 6 of each!)
Right, off to rally the troops, DS2 has footie at 8.45am today. Have a lovely day all, hugs to everyone who's missing poorly or worried. PS told the boys, DS1 doesn't want to go, DS2 will decide today.

Hi all
OH has gone down to Sussex to his parents to have some work done on the van by his dad. Left at 3am after waking me up and so DS and I have been up for ages.....Bitsy I feel your pain;).
OH not back till tomorrow so later DS and I have a tea of hot dogs and fries planned in front of Total Wipeout ( he loves it) and a bath and early bed watching Over the rainbow with chocs and he is sleeping in the big bed with me.
DS was apparently sick at school yesterday and I had to pick him up at 1pm. no one saw him be sick though and he was fine afterwards so am hoping he wasn`t just desperate to get away from school because of the problems:(
I have a bit of ironing to do but apart from that am spending the day with DS.
MSD hope you are ok lovey.
Sunnygirl where are you??????
Redruby thank you for your kind words about DS going on hols....glad to know it isnt just me who dreads these things.
Hope OH is ok, he was supposed to be getting there about 7am and ringing me but not heard yet.
Hugs to all in need x0 -

Well - this morning I'm going to [STRIKE]take dogs for a run and tire them out, take DD's to park and tire them out. Will pop to library too and grab the bits on my shopping list [/STRIKE].... sticking in budget :money:
Then [STRIKE]finish mowing lawn and plant seeds[/STRIKE]. I'm so cross with myself for losing my seed potatoes, but will have a last hunt for them too. Also want to give car a good clean inside as haven't done it ... *whispers* this year
Need to make the orange biscuits I planned to make yesterday ... and hunt out another orange recipe too :EasterBun Then going to do picnic for tomorrow and hopefully collapse in a heap for Britains Got Talent

Ooh we love Total Wipeout too! Our house is noisy when it's on DS2 and I scream like maniacs, and he does tha actions in front of the TV. Whoever said TV watching is a lazy person's hobby hasn't seen my boy!
Bitsy, he's away for seven weeks at the moment. Was meant to be four but the next job starts near this one two days later, so there's not much point in driving all th way back up for 18hours. It's also our wedding anniversary while he's away, so our planned £12 holiday to Dublin will be cancelled not, and it's DS2's birthday at the end of June, so he'll pop up for that. We'll see how it goes, me and the boys may pop down at the end of the month for the holiday weekend - he's got a 2 bed flat for the duration. Thanks for the hug!
