Hi there guys, im stuck!!
ok so i received a parking charge notice for 14/03/10 for £75 for parking in century wharf cardiff...My partner used to live there but doesnt anymore! i occasionally use the gym there but i tend to only leave my car there for about 2 hours tops! usually between the hours of 6-8pm, Problem is...it says on the notice that i was there on the 14/03/10 at 22.48??!!!!
I have racked and racked my brains and really cant see me leaving my car there that late in the evening when my partner lives literally round the corner and iv never had a ticket left on my car and not paid it off straight away but i swear with this i cant see this information being correct.
I dont know what to do, i sent a letter stating that i wasnt parked there at this time, iv received a letter back stating:
Please rest assured that our appeals manager has personally investigated this claim and considered the points you have raised with us. This view however based on the information we have received is that these particular circumstances are neither unreasonable nor unjust and so we will not be waiving the charge on this occasion...we appreciate that this is not the decision you will have hoped for, unless you have additional information that you have not already brough tto our attention, this decision is final. Although further corresponsdence will be noted and filed, we will not respons except where you have provided new evidence to substanciate your claim.
whilst we are unable to revoke this notice, we hope this offers an explanation and addresses your concerns. if you have not already settled the charge please forward payment to teh address below or by calling 0871 434 4372. As an appeal was lodged the fees have been frozen at £75 for an extended period of 14 days from the date of this letter.
it then goes on to say if i dont settle it my charge will increase to £150 and resserve the right to recover by way of a debt collection agency, court and or immobilisation and removal of the vehicle.
eeeek im concerned now as i read a few posts on here and some woman has had her car removed and she has had to pay £800 to this company to release her vehicle!
i dont know what to do now! and literally havent got long left to pay the £75 and cant afford for it to go up to £150! plus i really dont think my car was there at this time!
they do say on the first letter that i can pay for a photo of my vehicle for £10!!! but i dont wanna waste a tenner! cos photos obviously can be doctored!
help help help please!!

Just ignore them, by threatening to remove your car or clamp it for a supposed "debt" is highly illegal.
From now on do not contact them again, and ignore any correspondence from them.
Of course your "appeal" was refused, as the procedure is not independent and they would be cutting down on their source of income if they allowed these appeals.
For further reassurance please read the other threads on here that deal with private parking companies. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Completely agree with trisontana.
You need to understand that private parking tickets are a scam, trying to make you think you have to pay money and making their tickets and letters look legitimate and official.
They are not! DO NOT PAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's the link to the whole sub-board - read any threads which are not about 'real' PCNs from a Council. All the other threads are about scammers like yours (private parking companies):
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
Read the first thread by Crabman, you need to click on the links on his first post which show you examples of the threatogram letters the registered keeper will receive (and must IGNORE). It's exactly like ignoring a series of harmless and rubbishy phishing emails and isn't too difficult - in fact their letters are quite amusing once you fully understand it's a con.
Don't believe their references to Court and CCJs (they can't just register a CCJ!). Nothing will happen if you don't respond at all. Your credit record will of course be unaffected as this isn't 'credit' and you owe them nothing.
When reading other threads in the link I have given, make sure you definitely read the one about McDonalds/BBC1, which gives you a link to watch last week's Watchdog programme. Watch that programme link and see the legal expert make a paper aeroplane out of a private parking ticket, and confirm what we are saying here. DO NOT PAY!!!!!!
Only ever take a PCN from a Council, or the Police, (or a genuine Railway Byelaws breach which is very rare) seriously. Anything else is a scam.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Appeals manager my !!!!. These muppets never allow appeals.it then goes on to say if i dont settle it my charge will increase to £150 and resserve the right to recover by way of a debt collection agency, court and or immobilisation and removal of the vehicle.
It is a criminal offence to immobilise or remove to pursue an alleged, unproven debt. Very stupid of them to put that in writing.
As the above posters have said, ignore and do not pay!0 -
just recieved ticket at pizza hut cardiff saying did not use facilities form NGP parking. They sat in their little white van watched me and then drove off, to have the cheek to issue me a ticket! the company is employed by Future Inn and they won't take responsibility, even though they employ these jerks. Have been told to ignore their threats or rising charges, what do you think?:mad:0

Good advice, treat them with the same contempt that they treat you. Ignore.djpromotions wrote: ». Have been told to ignore their threats or rising charges, what do you think?0 -
See above.....I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I've had the same accusation from pizza hut in cardiff. Wasn't given a ticket but received the letter demanding payment. Suspect they caught me on the CCTV cameras. How the hell do they know what facilities you've used? Do they scan all CCTV footage for the whole area to see if your eating at any of the 3 establishments covered by the car park - or am I being paranoid? I'm scared to ignore cos I think - what if I'm the one they decide to make an example of? A bloke I know reckons his mum was taken to court for parking in that area. I just wish I could be sure.0

You can be sure by just reading all other posts about PPC "invoices". Just totally ignore them.0 -
The 'ticket' aka invoice that you have had is complete and utterly unenforceable by any means.
The law is not on these companies side and they are out to try and fool the least expecting people who know nothing by there hot air threats.
Do NOT pay the invoice, as that is just what it is, an unenforceable invoice.
They will NOT take you to court, or by not paying it wont affect your credit rating by any means.
You will receive a number of letters that look somewhat official however they are not and there is no reason or need to reply to them, they will get bored in the end and go away.0 -
They probably do this to a lot of customers on the principle that a good percentage will just cough up.I've had the same accusation from pizza hut in cardiff. I very much doubt anyone was taken to court, its more likely they got one of the threat 'o' grams saying they MAY do.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
