Read any of the thousands of other PPC threads...the answer is to ignore everything from these scum and to not pay them a penny.

Please read the stickies at the top of the baord...all is explained there.

  • My son has lived with his brother in the Century Wharf development and has received a letter about three times, which we ignored. Well today he was parked in a 'VISITORS' space and came out to find his car had been clamped and the clampers were just driving off and told him that he had to pay the fine of £575 (£150 for each of the 'letters'/fines) and £125 to release the clamp.

So what does he do? They have said they will tow it away if he doesn't pay it today!

Well the only way to get the vehicle back is to pay the fee, tell him to pay by credit card only, make sure he gets a receipt for this, with a breakdown of the fees, the reason why is that he can do a chargeback on the card, also its illegal to clamp a vehicle for past alleged debts, only a bailiff appointed clamper can do that.

He needs to do some research, take images of signs, the place parked , bays everything, then go to www.pepipoo.com register, read the FAQs about adding images to threads and create a new thread there in the parking section.

If he wants to be militant by the way, just get an angle grinder and cut the clamp off, though he does run the risk again of being clamped, just take the clamp to the nick with a new padlock.

Also please don't hijack threads, create your own for each query

Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Or phone whoever contracted the clamper (Managing Agent?) and give them 2 hours to return the car or they will be sued and the Police informed of this crime, since private PCNs cannot legally be 'enforced' by seizing a vehicle. That is what a Small Claim Court exists for, if the parking co. felt they had a case their redress was Court, like anyone else.

Or get an emergency injunction forcing them to return the car - much cheaper than that extortionate clamp removal fee and has been done before. Takes time and needs a Solicitor though - not great with 2 Bank Holidays looming.

Or cut the clamp's padlock off, or pick the padlock without damage.

Or remove the vehicle elsewhere (local garage tow truck) and pay the garage to remove the clamp without damage; get a receipt. Then sue the parking company for the cost of this, and damages.

But then he's going to want to park there again isn't he? Thing is if he pays the scammers, to have any chance of recovering his money he is going to have to take the clamper and whoever contracted them (Managing Agent)?) to Small Claims Court to get his money back - and he would surely win such a claim.

Seriously the above are/were all the options IMHO. Pepipoo will help you now.

BUT PLEASE START YOUR OWN THREAD - YOU HAVE POSTED ON SOMEONE ELSE'S THREAD HERE WHICH ISN'T EVEN ABOUT CLAMPING!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
