Ouch, I'm trying to work out if I'd be better off working and getting tax credits than staying on disability benefits and doing voluntary work, it's making my head hurt.

depends on how many hours you want to do for what wage and which level of disabilty you are on.

my dad for example has been told if he gets put on the middle rate he would be about £20 a week better off quitting and living on the benifits than carrying on in his minimum wage 16 hour a week job

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

I'm helping look after a system at work, even though I've not got any training/experience on it and people are either emailing/calling me to say I've not done something right and need to sort it, or asking me to caryr out lots of requests!

I wouldn't mind if I was getting paid the salary to go with it and given training. Everything so far I've learnt is from following guides the previous person did.

Work have said I can have some training but it's not that high on their agenda. ARGH.

    Rant over!

Pooky - glad you're going to make a Dr's appointment.
    Gonzo - chin up!
Ames - sounds interesting a 2nd hand book shop - I'd love to do that.
Elfen - contents insurance is a must!

I'm on the highest rates of DLA, and I wouldn't be getting a wage. I'm looking to start a second hand book shop, which wouldn't make any money, at least to start with. It looks like I'd be about a tenner a week better off.

LMC - if you haven't had the training and things are wrong - so they say - say sweetly ' well, i haven't had any training on this system, so i can only do so much. if you need any help go speak to the manager or person x who has had the training.'
Cats don't have owners - they have staff!! :D:p

  • Cheers Cat, it's frustrating as there's only one person in the company that really knows how it works fully and is going to train me!

I've jokingly said to my boss it's like the blind leading the blind! As we both muddle through.

I feel a small glass of baileys will be in order tonight me thinks!

    Lots of love to everyone.

Well, sister's car passed it's test with just a few bulbs needed. When I left she was still patting it going 'good car, you passed, I'm so proud, well done'. Simple things eh.

I'm getting some good honest feedback on the small business board.
