Can I just remind people of the following rule, there are some posts that are borderline for removal and I would hate to interrupt the flow of the thread:

    MEDICAL ADVICE

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

Sorry if it's me you are referring to and if said anything that's not allowed, was not trying to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems, only trying to get advice on how to make taking lots of tablets easier.

I'm sorry if it was me too! Saversue, I can't see that you have said anything wrong!

I have however read through the posts and can't find anyone giving or asking for MEDICAL ADVICE. There was a discussion about a specific drug which had two versions, and the only thing that was said was to go to the doctor and ask if these could be changed as one of them was a cheaper version of the other and had more side effects, and it would decrease the number of tablets taken!

Can anyone else find anything that is wrong or detrimental to the rules here? I certainly would like to know, because if I have breached the rule I would like to be told as I am unaware if I have done so.;)

Gosh, thanks Tobruk - you have said exactly what I was thinking, I don't understand what the problem is, especially when you read some of the most terrible, horrible comments on other posts.

I had a difficult enough day without being reprimanded for having a sensible discussion on medication and I value your suggestions.

Today I have had two appointments, firstly with a Professor of Psychiatry and the second with my Consultant Psychiatrist. I am getting all the medical advice I need from my medical team that also consists of a Consultant Neurosurgen, Consultant Neuropsychcologist, Physiotherapist and GP, all of whom I shall see in the course of this week.

I thought this site was about support and as far as I am concerned, that is exactly what we are doing. I don't understand what the problem is or why anyone should have any concerns about this post.

I totally agree with you Saversue, none of us have advised someone take whatever medication, or change medication etc!! The only thing we said was to advise on seeing your doctor to try and change the make (so that you don't get adverse effects) of the mentioned tablets and the dosage e.g. instead of taking 2 tablets of 100mg ask for 1 of 200mg so that you don't have to swallow so many tablets (needlessly) AND so that the amount of tablets you take actually fit into a pillbox! I can't see anything at all wrong with that!

When I read that notice I felt like a naughty schoolgirl being reprimanded when I had done nothing wrong! I know how you feel, it is upsetting. Don't worry about it though, there are worse things ... like trying to function!!:rotfl:

Wow, you're going through it a bit seeing all those consultants etc within a short space of time! I'd better not discuss it though, I may be told off, or I might be banned! If you don't see me around again you know that my account is closed and have been thrown out!;)

You are correct, this forum is about support, and this thread has been just that. No-one has been nasty here (nice change) as seen in many other and all advice that has been given as far as I can see is one of comparing our tablets and seeking advice from your GP regarding them.

Hope you understand what I'm trying to say as my head is all over the place at the moment ... no change there then!:D

Good luck with all the appointments, hope they go well for you.

Good Afternoon Tobruk, I sure do understand i would really like a response from Soolin as to why we got a telling off. As soolin was obviously following this post I think it would be polite for her/him to explain?

If no-one can chat about their illness or medical regimes then Disability & Dosh and Benefits & Tax Credits to name but a few should be completely removed, after all that's what there all about.

I am intelligent enough not to post details that are unsuitable for public viewing and think an apology would be nice.

I like reading threads like this as they make me realise that I am not alone, and I find it helpful to hear about other people's medications and ideas on what else is available, so keep up the postings please, within the rules of course.

I think that maybe this is what Soolin was wanting to avoid, rather than saying anyone had done anything wrong, this thread was just on the right side of the line with regards to medical advice.

Unfortunately Summer of 0763 I believe answering this question would be giving medical advice. Only your doctor can advise you on which meds to take, though it might be worth a google search to have a look for possible side effects and see other people's experiences :)

Hi summerof0763,sorry but I can't comment on the gabentin as I've never had it, but I do take the pregabalin (the maximum dose allowed which is 600mg a day) and never had any problems with it, no bad reactions or any side effects, but everyone is different. Your GP wouldn't put you on the max dose straight off, but gradually up the dose to see how you get on with it.;)

Thanks linni and only_mee, I'm still unaware what the problem was/is with this thread as I can't see that anyone has given dodgy advice here. It's all been responsible and very supportive.:)

I agree with you Saversue about Soolin, it would be good to receive some sort of response from him/her about where we are supposed to have gone wrong as it were - so that we don't do it again!! He/she has obviously been following this thread! Perhaps they only want to see nasty abusive threads on here, and there are plenty to choose from! I have also seen threads where people are advising all sorts of things that they really shouldn't and are left to it!

It does make you nervous of posting at all, and it is quite upsetting!:(
