I'm not sure what to say, as a mother my heart broke when I read this, I'm 36 myself, and can't even imagine what your family must go through every day beemuzed, the fact that you get up and go on with your life as a family is a real testament to what sort of people you must be.

I guess it makes me realise how every day should be treated as a precious gift. sadly, there are thousands of us out there who realise, too late, how blessed we were in our family. Enjoy your families, even when they're squabbling and difficult!

Hope you are feeling OK Beemuzed, it must a very emotional day for you and your family. Take care of yourself.

Morwenna - loved your photos, you both look fabulously happy.

JackieG - hope your bones are ok.

Not much happening here, cooked salmon and veg for tea. I was very hungry so think it tasted ok, not too sure as it barely touched the sides!

Had a poor nights sleep last night - decided to go to bed early and couldn't get to sleep. Read for a while and eventually nodded off probably some time around midnight. Cue DD (17) in my room calling me. I don't think she has done that since she was about 9. I came to quite quickly when she said she was on her way to bed and 'We have a problem'!

Cue me leaping out of bed to sort the problem (expecting a flood, fire or burglar). The problem - a bat in the hall!! We then had to open both doors while it found its way out. Then I couldn't get back to sleep!

Anyway, off to sort out the kitchen now, take care everyone.

    Good evening all :)

Typing this while watching the footie, I do like to multitask ;) It's been a funny old day here; sun, then showers, warmish, then freezing cold. Still managed to get two washloads dried, so pretty happy with that. I should have spent time in the garden, but I chickened out and did indoor things :o Made a lovely fish pie and have just had that with carrots, sweetcorn and peas. And there's two double portions to freeze so a couple of easy dinners later in the month. All this talk of cakes has me drooling Anniestar, but I'm supposed to be losing the lard so haven't made any in a while. I might just have to do a coffee and walnut one tomorrow ;)

Diva, that's good that Tris is doing so well. When you think how he has cheated death so many times, being stable is terrific. I regret to say I can't remember the name of the lady who was in the car (driving??) when they crashed, but hope she is doing OK too?? I can't remember quite what her situation was, but I do remember it was very serious. Hope you're feeling stronger each day too.

Morwenna, lovely photos, you looked great :D

Beemuzed, I read the thread in one go today. I can only try to imagine your pain, but I'm sure it's crushing. Thank you for sharing Simon's story. My love and prayers are with you and your family, with a special thought for his brother. Take care x

    Evening all,

busy enough day to-day, got hair cut this morning, then had to do some bits in town and OH eventually decided to buy the lawn mower he has been promising DD4 since she moved house, went to hers for afternoon tea and then home, decided that we would just have salad for tea as we have some very nice bread...so an easy evening all in all.

Morwenna....lovely photographs, what a lovely bride.

Beemuzed.....hugs to you and your family.

It is so cold here, has been bright at times but hail showers in between....when is it going to get to be summer I wonder, or was it the few days we had in April....hope not....had text to-day from brother in Sardinia and it is cold and wet there too, told him to get it sorted before I go over on 30th!

Have eventually remembered that I am knitting a scarf for Oxfam, nearly finished now so can do something for me, need a sleeveless cardigan....ok don't need one but want one and have wool so would be a very OS knitting project.

Heat is on this evening, didn't go on automatically either yesterday or to-day so need to get boiler man in....my 'children' tell me that I should replace it as it is almost 16 years old and oil now costs me over €2000 per year...winter just gone we had €1000 worth of logs too, so seriously thinking that one over....there is some kind of grant available so will enquire about that and see what the whole thing might cost. Half of house is very old, thick walls but no damp proof and very little room for insulation in attic either, so heat is needed at almost all times of year.

Hugs to all who are in need or want, welcome to newbies
