    Good Afternoon

Didn't get around to posting this morning. DD had me awake at half five and she went to annoy her siblings and half six i fell asleep for half an hour.

Honey & Mustard chicken in the sc for dinner, will be with mash or fried potatoes not sure which yet and sweetcorm i think.

house needs some TLC but so do I - joints are playing up at the minute so I'll see what energy/ability to move I have left when the kids are all in bed.

Drove to work in a hail shower this morning and its very nippy outside still. Giving myself an easy weekend as far as the MSing goes as i'm working friday and feel like a need a bit of a break.

I felt genuine sadness during GB's speech last night and as someone who still bears mental scars from the last tory government (I turned 18 the month the poll tax started) I'm not happy but hope that the coalition will do a good job and will be glad to be proved wrong.

    Have a good day x

Having a total nightmare. These bl00dy cakes will finish me off:mad:

Have now made a yogurt cake as found some frozen berries in freezer so added them to the strawberry yogurt, also have done the coffee/walnut cake. Will ice it tomorrow. Decided to make the cherry and choc chip cake into small buns instead. I have made 12 cherry, 12choc chip and 12 mixed.

Am going to make a Riping spice loaf later. Haven't made this before but saw it in one of my books, liked the sound of and much more importantly have all the ingredients in:j

Thank you floss will indeed make a large batch of Twinks tonight. Great idea. Again, thank you.

    Snoozer I really like spiders:o

Butterfly Brain there are loads of places that the slugs can get in. Wish they would just leave me alone I hate them:mad:

Something strange happened today-not once but twice!
Was just finishing mixing yet another cake, had the back(in this case a side )door open as the cats were out for their time in the garden when a man walked in:eek::eek::eek: straight in no knocking. Apparently, he had got the wrong house. Was really shaken(and dropped and smashed my mixing bowl) off he went.

Carried on (with door shut) about half an hour later just going into kitchen from dining room(facing the door)Someone stood there(this never ever happens. Hasn't in the 15 3/4 years I have lived here) Anyway, this was ok firstly because he was about to knock on the door secondly, I was facing the door so no element of surprise. It was the new parcel force man delivering a large batch of SATS papers. Bless him he had noticed that I always walk round to the front of the house and thought he would save me some time:A
The first "visitor" did freak me out though.

Back to the cakes(sorry) Right in the department there are 11 English teachers(Not too much of a surprise given its the English dept DOH-Sorry!:o) a Drama teacher, two Dept admin staff, a reprographics technician, and five TA's Also various TA's that are floating-not formally attached to the dept but do work there so need to be counted. Apparently everyone loves the cake Friday and do dig in:eek::eek::eek:
    How many should I do????

At the moment I have- 36 buns, a large round cake, three loaf type cakes; will do the spice loaf, a load of twinks. Am also going to do some Viennese whirls

    Any ideas very gratefully received.

    ARRRGGGHHH.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY Master Lindy Loo:T

    Thanks for listening.
Take care and have a great afternoon.

    Ann xxxx

anniestar, counting up the numbers you will have 17 minimum and say 22-23 max, working out the portions, not including the twinks you have about 70 portions, surely that will be enough! Have I missed another thread and you are cooking for more than that? If not can I have a doggy bag 'cos it all sounds scrummy!! :p
  • Hi all

Eeyore what about a honey and walnut cake? Or you could just copy me and make a chocolate victoria sponge in a loaf tin and drizzle some chocolate over the top. I've just made one,and before anyone asks, I've not eaten any - YET! I think loaves are always better for taking into work, as they slice easily.

This will be me in about an hour :EasterBunMust, resist, I know but it looks soooooo good! And itwill helpmy aches and pains from this morning.

Question: What do you call someone who can't tell the difference between an orange and a red grapefruit?

    Answer: Mr LW.

I asked him to get an orange while he was at the F&V market (I wasn't well enough to go with him), and when I go to make carrot'n'orange cake, he's brought home a grapefruit! *rolleyes*

Oh well, back to the drawing board......

Happy birthday to Lindy Lou's DS

    Congratulations Morwenna; super pics.

Taking it easy this afternoon, as I have to drive tonight and need to have enough "spoons" left to do so safely, so spending the afternoon sorting the recipe file on the 'puter, putting into proper categories and so forth.

    (((HUGS))) where they're wanted/needed today.:o

Todays question from stroppy is.... I've just been given a lump of honeycomb, can you eat it all, including waxy bits, or do you drain it out? :o
