Are you doing a PhD too? If so, what is it in? (if you say genetics/immunology, I will hunt you down!!)

I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to run a northern with 0.5mg of mRNA....
talk about little.
It's times like these that make me want to be a bucket biochemist...(sorry, clinical biochemist!)0 -

Have you thought about a career when you're done with the PhD?0 -
It's scary, my samples have taken so long.....
I'm going to do tropical diseases when I'm done, studying host pathogen interactions, similar to what I'm doing now, except that I may be saving lives ( )
what is everyone else planning on doing when they're done with their phd? :T0 -

A serious answer is that I'm less sure the longer I spend on the PhD! I had wanted to go on into academia, but whilst I have been enjoying the teaching I have been doing I can see that it is pretty stressful. The worst thing, however, seems to be the admin. However, I'm conscious that I must not get like two colleagues who are always by the water cooler moaning about their lot in life, problems with the department etc etc.!
(The above neatly sidesteps the issue that was discussed further up the thread about whether it is viable to continue in academia without publications etc...)
