I'm a clinical biochemist ;) biochemists are ok. Not biologists though :rotfl:

Are you doing a PhD too? If so, what is it in? (if you say genetics/immunology, I will hunt you down!!)

I don't know - what about them? :rotfl: Congrats on the good news :T Now on to a career with extremely high salaries... ;)

No! I started a 5 year medical degree today!

I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to run a northern with 0.5mg of mRNA....
    talk about little.
It's times like these that make me want to be a bucket biochemist...(sorry, clinical biochemist!)
  • I passed my Ph.D today!

    I'm sooooooooooooo happy!

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!

    Only minor corrections too!

Just given you some Thanks - you have cheered me up in regards to the end being in sight when I'm still at my desk getting down about things. Thanks :)

    Congratulations!

Do it, become a real biochemist! :T

Have you thought about a career when you're done with the PhD?

It's scary, my samples have taken so long.....

I'm going to do tropical diseases when I'm done, studying host pathogen interactions, similar to what I'm doing now, except that I may be saving lives ( )

what is everyone else planning on doing when they're done with their phd? :T

Well, if by some miracle I do ever finish, I think I'll need a holiday! :j

A serious answer is that I'm less sure the longer I spend on the PhD! I had wanted to go on into academia, but whilst I have been enjoying the teaching I have been doing I can see that it is pretty stressful. The worst thing, however, seems to be the admin. However, I'm conscious that I must not get like two colleagues who are always by the water cooler moaning about their lot in life, problems with the department etc etc.!

(The above neatly sidesteps the issue that was discussed further up the thread about whether it is viable to continue in academia without publications etc... :) )
