Ack! How dare it snow on a five week month , petrol costs are going to go through the roof…
Filled up the car on Saturday night as didn’t want to get stuck without fuel and in 2 journeys to work have used almost ¾ of a tank
Usually get 5 to 6 journeys to work per tank. Beautiful this snow may be but looks like t’will be a tad on the costly side. Not back at work until Thursday though by which time we’re due to have thawed out (although Beeb weather have consistently forecast heavy rain overnight since Saturday and each night has turned out to be heavy snow so who knows).
Was very pleased to have spent one and half hours driving to work yesterday in treacherous conditions (normal journey 35 mins) to find that snow plough had been out to clear car park. YAY! Erm… except all they’d done is clear one long strip to drive down leaving lovely 4 foot banks of snow to prevent any actual parking . Had to be dug in to a space with the help of the hospital at night team, with no real confidence of getting out again. On further questioning it transpires the rest of the car park clearing was to be done for the arrival of the essential staff at 9am (aka the management), just as a side note it was also comforting to discover the hospital makes no provisions for those staff who make it in but are unable to then make it home. Good to know the effort you put in is appreciated :rotfl:
Anyhoo I digress (yes, yes so very unlike me I know), eventually arrived on the ward 25 minutes late to find only 2 other members of staff had made it in. One game soul was trudging (by foot) 6 miles in along country lanes, through drifts up to her behookie in places (and on her day off no less, she is a star :starmod:), and lovely student nurse was wending her way in by series of shanks pony, bus, train, and caring motorists in passing (without even the benefit of a paypacket for her trouble, another star :staradmin). T’was a fun day I can tell you!
Due to lack of provision by hospital (and recent hairy driving conditions) am now swithering over whither to fit full set of winter tyres, or order up some snow socks instead. Dubious about the socks due to the need to stop and remove once on cleared roads as there’s nowhere to pull over (so cannot be very safe surely).
Oh yeah… must invest in folding shovel for boot as well as forgot to lift spade from garage before setting off yesterday
Ah well, can worry about is all later as more snow is falling and I’m off out to play0 -
It's started to snow here and disrupt arrival tines of shift patterns :-/ so i was a tired bunny. Lol I hope it improves soon maybe get snow tyres if it's likely to stay failing that I'd like to buy a 4x4 haha xx not good or the mse pocket hahaI AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. Well ok, if you insist…
Started off in santiago for a day when I arrived then left to go to Puerto varas. Was really cool there, went trekking and went up a snow capped volcano J then went over to bariloche and went horse riding up a mountain J :cool2:
Then went to Buenos aires and did a tango lesson and show. Got up and danced on the stage with a tango dancer at a cafe! _party_
Then went to Iguassu falls. Liked the falls but thought the area was far too touristy L
Then went to paraty in brazil and had a booze cruise round the island. Apparently they are filming the twilight film there. Shame I did not see rpatz!
Then ended up in rio. Did not do much here as was exhausted, mainly sunbathed and went to a samba show! Definitely recommend south America, cant wait to go back to peru! :j:T:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -

Thank you, thank you. What an incredible trip CLippy, and who knew you were so talented... mountain climbing , dancing the tango, horse riding
,(almost) hanging out with the rich and famous ..... am almost disapointed you didn't venture over the Iguassu falls in a barrel :rotfl:
Sounds fabulous, am most jealous about the falls I think. Was it horrendously touristy, to the point where the falls were tainted?
Also, how's your Spanish? Have to confess it has been a lack of any prowess in this language that has detered me from venturing to South AmericaKeen to know how essential you think it would be.

360 Days to go :T
That's less than a year. WooHoo!
That's about all I've got to get excited over though. Sis and hubby will not be moving out this weekend, apparently they cannot do it in the snow
Really getting on my nerves now. Deadline of end of September came and went and still they remained. Absolutely unequivecally final deadline of 2nd week in November came, went, and still they remained. Last call, no excuses accepted, you'd better be gone be last week in november or else deadline. Still here.
They've been here since Feb, Sis had all summer off (teacher) and never went near the house to do any work on it, they haven't paid a penny in rent (Dad is not exactly rolling in cash, they're earning at least 45-50 grand between them), used the tumble drier even during summer when blazing sunshine outside (these two were too tight to put the heating on over winter in their own place), every baking tray in the house is covered in thick layer of gease, oven the same, no room in the fridge, no room to move because all their carp is still here, they continue to use the toilet outside my room overnight because they don't want to wake each other up using the one upstairs AND I'm moving back onto nights so can look forward to being kept up all day by their blasted dog barking like a loony at anything and nothing.
They have showed no consideration, put no effort in, not done a jot of housework, sis expects us all to run after her hubby like he's a baby, and I'm havign to park in a snowdrift because they clear the snow from their spots onto mine
I want them gone, don't care if it's unnatural to want this or not. T'is fair to say that the end of the teather has been reached.
*and beathe*
Apologies for offloading here, especially as it's sod all to do with paying off debt (exept my increasing frustration at the lazy duo makes me want to spend, spend, spend for some reason). Hopefully one day soon (oh please make it soon!) I will look back and laugh, wondering how I got so worked up over something so trivial :wall:
Going to dig the car out ready for tomorrow, that should release a little tension at least

well second claim to fame is that the jonas brothers were in buenos aires at the same time as us and i assume we drove past their hotel as they were walking out the door as there were hundreds of teenage girls hanging about with posters who suddenly started screaming as we drove past (assume they were not screaming for us)
the falls were very cool, much much bigger than niagra- no chance of making it alive down them in a barrel! our tour leader said you would not survive and that an english girl jumped off and her bloated body was found weeks later in the sea at paraty....
if you fancy the falls i recommend you stay in a hotel in the park. there is a sherraton in the brazil side and you are allowed in park after it has closed so you can see it without the crowds. the place wasnt too touristy- eg no hard rock or mcds but was just too many ppl
have to say spanish would be a major advantage. i could say hola when i went and that was all. was ok on the tour but really struggled when not with leader as they speak NO english at all! we learnt stiff like how to say please thankyou and order a coffee, words like chicken and beef so could look at menu. i would definately learn a bit before you go although if you do a tour you can get by. i am def learning spanish for a bit before i go back as it was so frustrating not being understood!:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
Oh keebs, I hate Lastminute! They gave me a horrible run around last year and were so unhelpful when a change to home office rules made me miss my holiday. Didn't see a penny back of it either.
I'm just back from my Asia trip, which was out of this world fantastic. I challenge clippy's claim to fame, as I got a glimpse of the Thai King yesterday in his birthday motorcade in BKK!Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000Debt free as of 1 October, 2010

Aaargh to a missed holiday, that's just plain evil
Seems like Lastminute are pretty pants when things go wrong, often there's nothing a company can do but how they handle the situation can make all the difference to how the afflicted person feels. Getting the run around at a time like that is the last thing you need.
Glad to hear you've had a fabulous holiday this time though.
Where in Thailand did you go (not that I'm looking to steal ideas or anything )?0
