We have no cashpoint where i live (miles from any bank) and there ridiculous minimum £31 counter transaction policy has rendered them utterly useless to me.

    I don’t get it.

There are no ATMs where you live, but you can get to a branch of Santander,
although counter withdrawals there have a minimum of £30.00.
Why don’t you use the ATM inside (and outside, probably) of
that particular branch. Minimum withdrawal would be £10.00.

As a general rule, people who have their finances in good order are happy with whatever bank they use,
people whose finances are chaotic, are unhappy with whatever bank they use.

I can get to a branch of santander very very irregularly - when i'm in town. I don't live in town.

They should be made to use the postoffice so people in rural communities can access their funds.

ATM's in the branch only allow transactions of multiples of ten pounds.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but a multiple of ten does in fact, include ten.

Doesn;t include less than £10.00 though. If you are on benefits, you are on a tight income and sometimes want/need to withdraw a small amount of money. ATMs aren't much use then - and in fact, Barclays Bank only allow you to withdraw a minimum of £20.00 at their cashpoints here in Norwich. Different bank, I know - but does emphasise the point!

Lively Basque port. Crap bank though.

Santander is in Cantabria, not in the Basquian country. u_u'

True, but if it was up to me,I would remove the 100% cash compensation for failed banks from foreign banks, call it a loyalty bonus for those with British banks/building societies.

  • I have an Alliance & Leicester current account and a Santander Zero (I think that refers to the level of customer service) credit card.

Apart from their pocket money limit of £250 on faster payments, their inept customer services (still waiting for online access to credit card after 2 months) and Alliance and Leicester's amusing Cleared/Available/Balance figures (none of which are the same or offer any clues to aid reconciliation) then they're a great bank. :o

I have been with abbey and now Santander all my life and have never had any problems but recently I've had problems with my online banking not showing my account. I've phoned 5 times and they say they will phone me the next day every single time I phone to let me know what is happening and if it's fixed but they never do. I then made a complaint and they told me it should be fixed now and if not phone the number I had phoned previously. Funnily enough it still hadn't been fixed and they expect me to phone that number again and just be told the exact same thing. The last time I phoned them the woman I was speaking to actually lied to me and made up an excuse for why it wasn't working. It's just really frustrating and I'm going to make another complaint emphasising the fact their employees aren't doing there job.

I started looking at other banks and they offer services such as text alerts and mobile banking. I'm pretty sure Santander don't offer these services and I'll be switching as soon as I make up my mind on which bank to join.
