Morning all
Just a quick one as I am at work at the moment
Stroppyjock - to me there is no question other than who's wishes are more important - theirs or your DMIL. She obviously wanted you to have that money so I would do what she wishes and treat yourself to something perhaps something to remember her by.
Be back later
Have a good day

Morning all,
Just having a storm here. I hope the power doesn't go out as it's thundering etc. Had a morning in the kitchen today. Made some soup & bread. Haribo & Pink's secret family recipe that I"m not telling. :silenced::D I washed the front verandah and path down too but that will be a total waste of time now with the rain & red soil. I hate our red soil.
Off to visit a girlfriend tomorrow. Hope it's not raining as we meet up in a park which will be a tad wet otherwise.Having Lentil Patties tonight. It's a new recipe and it's suppose to be firming up in the fridge before I fry them. Hopefully miracles do happen.
Hopefully we'll be having DGS this weekend so that will be lovely.
Diva How is Tristan going at the moment?
Stroppy Keep it and put it to good use. If MIL wanted it to go to charities she would have done so herself. Don't feel guilty.
Well I shall go and check the sloppy lentil patties and start the veggies.Hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
MSD - hope you're throwing up ceases and the healing process speeds up (((HUGS))) x
miolerie - that's amazing that your grandson is walking at 8 months!!!
stropyjock - oh my goodness that is a tough one - but as has been said it was your MIL's final wish that you have the money as a gift to you so I would take it as just that too. Can't believe you have snow!!!
Morning one and all
:grouphug: to all those who want or need them and hope everyone has a lovely day.
I had a really productive day yesterday and got loads done - including going swimming, but unfortunately it made my ears go and I now need to get them syringed - it's affecting my balance and I can't watch tv/listen to the radio or even concentrate properly when DD's talk to meI know the doctors will make me come in and have a routine appointment before they will book me in to have them syringed so as soon as I've dropped DD's off at school I'll be on phone to dr's.
For the rest of the day ... I will make a veg lasagne, cook a roast (meant to do it on Sun but fell asleep after car boot) and sort out the mountain  of clean washing. I may fly by the flylady thread too ... but on the whole just want to take it easy because head feels all wobbly and I feel sorry for myself
Hope everyone has a FAB day

Have to go to work and will post later but Stroppy your MIL left that money as a thank you to you. It's yours and as someone just posted if she wanted it to go to charity she would have donated it herself. xClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

Why not use the gift to buy something to remember her by, or to treat yourself & your G/F? Personally I would not see the need to justify what I had done to others who are being petty, they are just jealous that you got what they think should be theirs. It was your MiL's wish for you to have that gift, so do what YOU want with it, not what you think will make others happy.flutterbyuk25 wrote: »I am going to whisper this incase it goes wrong like yesterday :rotfl:I am going to see Hairy Bikers tonight! :jfinger's crossed
Oh shut up, Flutterby!!! Thats SO not fair!! We got refunds as the theatre don't know when they can reschedule0 -
Morning All ,
Brrrrr chilly here! Very deceptive though as the sun is shining like butter wouldn't melt
MSD - Should you still be so poorly? Don't want to pry but you seem to be suffering an awful lot - can the doctors not do any more to help you?
Stroppy - I wouldn't pay any heed to what your GF's family are saying. It's jealousy and guilt pure and simple. Your MIL wanted you to have the money and who has the right to question the reasons of someone who has passed on? Ignore and do what your MIL would have wanted.
Well am back on the OS wagon well and truly! Got myself some dried chick peas and tahini yesterday so am going to make a large batch of hummus at the weekend and freeze it. Am also trying to be creative to ensure I don't need to shop again before payday on Tuesday! Will most likely be a big shop though as we're nearly out of everything!
Still have my pile of ironing to get through and I've just noticed a hole on the seam of my cardy  so that'll need stitching up  I hate stitching. Tea tonight is pork chops with roasted apple, veg and sage YUM!
Right must crack on, have a lovely day everyone, hugs to all xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,
What you've been out there searching for forever is in your hands0 -
Morning all.........(((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Stroppy - I am with the others your MIL left you the money because she wanted you to have it, accept it and do what you want with it but do not tell the family what you have done. It would be nice if you maybe bought something as a reminder of your MIL and maybe had an evening out or something.
Bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrr its very cold hhere, I am not sure if we have had a frost but we have had more rain. I dare not plant up the baskets and containers unstil we are sure the frosts have past. Being rural means that we do get more frost then in town where there is more shelter from the buildings.
OH has garden trousers on so I guess he is going out to the garden. He wants to plant the cauliflwers but again we have to wait until the frost is past before I put them out.
Not much os today, I think I will be lighting the fire again later.......I managed to hold off until supper timer yesterday. We are stillting taking hotties to bed.
Time to go..............Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning folks,
Hugs to those suffering from illness or sadness.
Stroppy,I think I would be inclined to do what most of the others have said and accept the gift. After all,if you knew her for 5 years it wasnt a sudden whim on her part, she would have thought about it carefully.Tricky though - Its horrible when families fall out over a will .
Well,I nearly finished painting the lounge, but ran out of paint just before I got to the end of the wall ,so DH is picking up some more today.I have a lot of white though,so may do the porch and downstairs loo.The porch needs doing quite a bit as the dog tends to brush past on his way in- I wipe it down a lot ,and the paint is wearing a bit thin.
I want to move a shrub in the back garden that is being swamped by another.I had to take out a hydrangea that was lost over the winter. When I dug that out, there were loads of massive slugs round the roots,a disgusting sight, didnt half make me shudder.Strange because we don't usually see that many.
Anyway, must get on and take the beast out, looking a bit dull and he doesnt like being wet.:D
I will be bunging a chicken in the Remoska later as my token OS:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning folks - lovely sunny morning here - you can keep your snow stroppy:p. Also, stroppy, as others have said, this was thought out by your MIL - she wanted you to have the money. Please don't bother with jealousy of others but be glad that you enjoyed MIL's company for those years.
Lovely to see you Diva - hope the sickness settles soon.
RosyRed - v annoying re the paint but it's great that you have nearly finished the lounge. It will look so fresh for viewers.
Been out early with doggies and sat on a park bench for a while in the sun, it was so lovely.
Something from freezer for tea, nice and quick and will free up some space for food for parents-in-law. There's a big chunky pizza in there, taking up room and calling my name:D, so we might have that and salad.
Moving more crockery and glasses into the kitchen wall units tonight. We went for all glass doors - i think I said - so it's lovely to see my pretty china in there. Haven't had glass kitchen cabinets in the last 4 houses, so it's over 20 years since i've been able to display them. I did have a dresser though but got tired of dusting everything on it:p so went for a minimalist look with it. We've kept the bottom of it in this flat and it works really well as a sideboard and also holds loads of stuff.
Off back up to the library today.
Haribo - I hope you are managing the hectic pace of life at yours at the moment!
(((hugs))) to those who are having a difficult time or are feeling a bit low. I know that there are many on here who are unwell, worried or sad. Thinking of you.
