Vendor won't let viewers in unless they are on the market

Not if I can't find anywhere to tempt me out from our home, no I won't which is not a massive issue. Marketing / selling mine is only relevant when it comes to offering on a property, not viewing it. Mad policy IMO :cool:0 -

Hmm, wait until you come to market/sell yours and see if you still feel quite so enthusiastic after spending hours cleaning/tidying/creeping, just to discover that your viewers haven't even bothered to put their property on the market, let alone had an offer on it. We didn't even start looking (apart from on Rightmove) until we'd had an offer on ours - it would have been a pointless waste of everyone's time.0 -
Then just dont clean if they haven't got theirs on the market.0

Sold several houses before thanks and didn't restrict viewers especially when our last place took about a year to sell. Part of the "joy" of selling with the English system is that you do get tyre kickers and time wasters. This is why I made the distinction between viewing and actually buying.
If I come and see your house, like it and then put mine straight on the market at a realistic price and someone snaps it up doesn't that make me an attractive buyer?
This one has apparently been on market for 3 years - think I would be happy to see anyone personally after that long!0 -
Tell the agents that you are expecting a large inheritance from a favourite aunt provided you find a property she approves of.....0

No, it makes you just about the worst customer for buying. If by amazing chance your hugely optimistic scenario came true, you’d still be at the maximum timescale for the vendor. I’m astonished to see how many posters think they should be able to view when they’re not serious buyers. Haven’t you got a telly or better things to do?0 -
Thing is, if you're happy in your existing house - but then you see a house which really ticks all the boxes, you may want to move. This is what happened to us. We saw a house we liked, viewed it (before ours was on the market) - liked it, put an offer in, put ours on the market, sold it in a week, bought the house we liked - still here 8 years later! Just because your house isn't on the market doesn't mean you're not a serious buyer!0

If someone's had their house on the market for 3 years, are they really a serious seller?0 -
It still makes it the maximum timescale for the vendor.0
