These forums are for advice - which has been given, it need not be taken.

There are many ways to do things, just because they may be different from each other doesn't necessarily make any of them wrong.

I believe that you are talking sense others are talking nonsense on the subject of TV Aerials

No there is a very clear right way to do this, and it is utterly incorrect to purchase and install an amplified distribution system on unknown signal strength and quality that will waste money, need to be plugged in and powered constantly, is yet another thing to go wrong and could swamp the TV with signal come switchover.

If i lose half the signal by useing a spliter the whole job could be a waste of time . How much signal if any would i lose if i connected the aerial cable direct in to the aerial junction box alongside the other aerial cable and used no Y spliter

Would it be possible to do this ?
If you lose half the signal with a splitter, that is a good as it gets - half the signal one way and half the other.

Your way may be one way but is not necessarily the "clear right way" and it is frankly laughable for you to suggest that it is "utterly incorrect" to do something else. Your speculation as to what might, or might not, happen is merely that - speculation.

The OP is of course at liberty to chose what ever solution they choose.
There is no need to belittle other solutions merely because they differ from your own.

No it is the clear right way, you do not just amplify the signal for no reason, if you would like me to explain why in greater detail please just let me know.

Your advice was not belittled I initially asked you to qualify the advise you gave and you did not, I than stated why it was incorrect not just for the OP but for future searchers, there are many uneducated or corrupt installers that sell and "install" unneeded amplifiers, posts on here must be correct as the site is highly respected and often used by those checking before carrying out such work.

It is not speculation, it is facts based on years of practical experience, education and qualification to every available standard in digital TV reception, I am both CAI and RDI registered.

    Good for you.

Your way of splitting the signal is indeed one way but not the only way.
Pity that you cannot realise that.

You have speculated as to what might happen, albeit based I assume on your experience, however it is still speculation.

My personal choice would be to use a mast head amp.
Yours is to do something else.

The OP can decide on the best course of action for them in their situation.

I hope they make a suitable and appropriate choice

I realise every way of doing every job, that is how I know which ways are wrong and the effects.

I take it by your post your want to take your aerial cable and split it so it goes to 2 or more different rooms in the house, aka example roof aerial to 3 bedrooms and the lounge, so that each room has a tv signal.
personally experience, I used a 4 way aerial booster costing £14.99 from argos about 15years ago, the booster is in the loft space mains powered, where the aerial cable from the aerial goes down the roof, in through a pipe just below the ridge of the roof, which used to be to connected to a water tank. tank was removed but pipe was left.
using that as my IN i could attach 4 coaxial cables 3 to the bedrooms and 1 out the pipe, into the lounge window, wooden frame, drilled through it.
So I'm running 5 tvs from the booster splitter as i type this.
1 cable goes to my neighbours house as they where going to be charged £60 for having a new cable fitted as the old one was damaged internally with water.
Picture quality, brilliant, normal tv stations BBC1 BBC2 ITV and Channel 4, can only pick up channel 5 + ever other freeview channel with a freeview box though.
