I love excercise like that. When I run I feel I ahve achieved something. However when I do my weights I feel I have done nothing. Obviously over time I should see a difference but I want to see/feel it now :rotfl::eek:
How do you do weights? 3 lots of reps? When was the last ime you changed your weights/routine? Have you tried supersets or compound training?
Oooo, will check out the Virgin training one and see how it compares Luc...
It seems quite good, does assume a bit of running capacity but given its a 6 month plan and we've got about 11 I figure it'll do;)

hmmm...I'm not quite a 'beginner' but certainly not 'intermediate'...

Will go as a beginnier I think.

Need to run 6 days a week-not entirely do-able with my Dh and his shifts. Wish I had a treadmill.

Afternoon! Sorry I've not been around, I've been busy with an OU essay.

Sounds like I've missed a bit, which marathon are you doing?

I've got my new laptop, I'm liking being able to go wireless but it weighs over 3kg. And the keyboard's getting a bit of getting used to. Ah well I'll soon get the hang of it.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

A few of us were led astray by Sally on FB and entered the ballot for the London Marathon...

Ooh PAP, are we going to see pictures of the newly henna'd hair?

Ten I have done before's and will do after's. I have wanted to dye my hair for ages but I hate the fact it grows out really fast (for me). This is easy to top up as and when, plus its quite cheap. I shall post them, still cooking until 5.30 :rotfl:

What on earth is supersets? I do a circut... 12-15 reps and 2-3 sets. Front lunges (both legs), squats, box press ups, dumbell fly, prone flys, front rasies, lateral rasies, tricep kickbacks, bicep curl, russain twists and the the bridge, skydiver and plank to finish. I have been doing this for about 2 weeks, however I have been doing the 30day shred for about 3/4 weeks. I use 1kg/1.5kg weights but I need to buy some heavier ones :D

You definitely need to up the weights. You should be lifting to failure i.e. if you tried to do one more rep you absolutely couldn't. Probably worth checking Freegle or whatever its called now for weights...

Do you pause between exercises? How long for? Try not to stop for longer than 20 seconds, or however long it takes to set the next lot of equipment up.

Supersets is when you do 2 or 3 exercises in a row e.g. leg press (squat)/calf raises/lunges as one big wet then repeat

Compounding is doing an upper body exercise follwed by a lower body exercise without pause so the blood flow is redirected - gets the heart pumping.

Another trick is to reverse the order you do things in so its not always the same exercise you do when you are fresh. Also try doing small muscle exercises (e.g lat raises) before big muscle exercises (e.g. flyes) to really isolate the big muscles.

None of these techniques will add bulk but they will challenge your body so you'll maximise effort levels and you'll feel pushed and see benefits.
