OS Daily Thread - Monday 10th May

Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Monday 10th May.It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning lovely OS-ers! wave.gif

And the cheesey leek tart I made went all free-form on the baking tray - all the insides ran out of the pastry :( It tasted very nice though :)
Guess it really was a 'leeky' tart then giggle.gifgiggle.gif Sorry you had to miss the Bikers though.
TopsyTurvey - I always enjoy "The Flower Duet" by Leo Delibes. (Used in a BA advert) The link takes you to Youtube. THIS is the link for Pachebels Canon in B that floss mentioned.
Noahs - That veil/headdress is absolutely gorgeous. Big hugs for you honey.hugs.gif

thankyou.gifto everyone who mentioned me and pm-ed during my enforced break for the last 10 days. I had been feeling a bit worse than I thought I should have been for a few days and it ended up with me unfortunately being rushed back into hospital for another 6 days and having another op. I do appreciate all the kind thoughts though and that a few of you missed me!
Not eating much but am going to make some muffins for my OH today, he has been a tower of strength lately and is so exhausted as it's been his busiest time at work for the past three months. Plus having to look after me of course. Compared to all that, his favourite dark chocolate muffins  seem like a small gesture!!
Anyway, I hope everyone has a good start to their week. With love, light and HShuggies.gif to all.

Welcome back Diva. Get well soon.... I don't do quite as good a job as I am not one for keeping track of what everyone else is doing....

Cool and cloudy here, need to watch the temps as I don't want my veg ruined.

Work today and then either boat/polytunnel or e-bay afterwards. probably boat as i need help with the plastic on the tunnel. I have to teach the OH to enter stuff on e-bay as we have sacks of sale-able clothing that need shifting.

    well, have a good day....

Hello again Diva - look after yourself & get better soon!

    Good Morning Everyone

Is cool here today too, think the temperatures are low all week :(

Didn't catch up with the thread yesterday but got a lot done in the house though nothing in the garden as the weather was horrible.

Back is playing up again today  so will take some tablets in a minute. Am out this morning swappying lorries over with OH then probably paperwork this afternoon.

Early dinner tonight as DS as boxing will probably be tagletelli with ham and mushrooms. DS has his sats this week so hopefully he will get throught them ok. I dont believe in them & I understand some schools are refusing them.

Anyway hope we find out who is Prime Minister today - have spent the weekend trying to explain it all to the kids - that was fun :rotfl:

    Have a great day.x

    morning all,

My laptop has died :( its less than a year old, so its being collected today and hopefully fixed.)

Its a nice day here, will have to get the grass cut today, and my tomato plants needs potting on, also I need to do an online shop, and make the bread pudding which I did not get round to yesterday.

I also need to do the last little bits in the utility, fill the gaps etc, there is also a blind to go up.

Need to do a wash, and get the tea out of the freezer, I think its sausages tonight. Lots to do as always, but I would rather be busy.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone :hello:

Had a lovely relaxing day pottering in the garden yesterday and catching up on a bit of cooking. It was nice to have a sunny day off. OH did lots of diy jobs and the house is looking great.
This week is looking a bit crazy. Although I'm off work today I have a full day of OH's accounts to do and 4 weeks filing to catch up on. Am also chairing a meeting at the school at 7pm. Tuesday I am working all day and another meeting at 7.30pm. Wednesday I have a voluntary truancy council meeting at 9am followed by work, followed by the school gardening club. Thursday I only have work. :D Looking forward to a long weekend off though and a surprise weekend away for our anniversary. The surprise is that I don't know where we're going. ;)
OS will be limited today but I am about to make some tuna salad to take to the office. The girls have tuna and sprouting beans for their lunch today. OH will strip the sofa for me this morning and get it washed and on the line as it's a bed setee and we have guests next week.
Dinner will be macaroni cheese and salad.

    Take care everyone

    Morning all

Been missing for a few weeks, been so busy and I don't know where the days/weeks are going! Have had 2 new carpets fitted at our house, they were both well overdue but now the downstairs is finished - (it's only taken us 7 years) but upstairs still needs quite a bit of work! Have also been away for the last 4 weekends and still have another 4 to do before we have a weekend at home! Next 2 weekends are not to far from home and at sites with electric hook-up, showers, toilets etc - hoping the weather warms up at abit though! Have still been cooking/baking although have been really pushed for time the last 2 weeks so will get back on track this week! Have to go and get ready for work.

Love and hugs to those that need them.

DIVA - GREAT TO SEE YOU BACK. So sorry to hear that you've been so unwell. I'd been wondering where you were, but not having been a regular contributer to the boards didn't feel as though I could enquire.

Today is a definate money saving day - not least because I have decided to go back onto my diet (I have all the stuff) and the children and husband will be having food from the freezer. I'm chair of the local playgroup and it is rumoured that Ofsted will be in today - so I'm slightly terrified!!! WM on, made boys packed lunches, bread bin full so no BM. Husband didn't get into bed until 3.30am last night (this morning) as he was working on his appraisal, so am letting him sleep. Today I need to take pictures (and a good description) of everything that I'm putting on ebay.

Have had clearout of wardrobe and need to sell somethings to raise some money. Spent it before I've made it, as I booked tickets to go and see Mamma Mia in June last night. Wanted to go for ages, and decided that I deserve it after a very difficult weekend with my boys. Also have to clear out and clean the room where the boys toys are - have been moving the furniture out as I've freecycled it, but would be nice to be able to close the door mentally on it and move onto the next room.

Sunny here today so will get LOADS of washing done and out on the line! Love to everyone xx

Edit - Managed to get my books and DVDs onto Amazon for selling and have taken some pics for ebay. Off to do rest of pics now. By 8.30pm have sold 4 dvds(!!!) and took all the pics I need for Ebay - yipeeeee
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning all

Diva good to see you back - hope you're finally on the mend!

Got up to DS1 in agony with an abcess on his tooth this morning so I need to get him sorted with antibiotics and painkillers before I go to work. He's had trouble with it over the last couple of weeks but never got around to getting to the dentist. DS2 has had a paddy as his clothes weren't dry (his own fault he puts that much stuff in the TD it stands no chance of getting dry and he has been told...repeatedly!) and DH had already yelled at DD for being loud and cheeky so this morning is going really well.....i'll be glad when I get to work :D:rotfl:

Need to look at making arrangements to get over to my Mums - we're thinking of July as its the boys 18th and they and DD will come with me and DH stays here for the peace and quiet. We usually fly but our airports over here are suffering regularly with the ash could so not sure whether its better to go on the boat.

OS wise - house work was done yesterday chicken is cooked for tonights dinner which will be with sauted potatoes and veg and I think I might make some soup before I go to work for DS1 and whoever else wants it for lunch.

    Have a good day :D
